Dec 12, 2014 - Into the Snow Belt

We have been with my Dad for 3 weeks and it has been a very interesting time. We wanted to spend Thanksgiving with him since we would not be here for Christmas, and since we had not seen him since this summer at the Lake it was a great opportunity to see how he was doing. Jim joined us for Thanksgiving at my sister-in-law’s house in Newcomb. Brenda does not have the biggest house but managed to fill it with many extended family members and we just had a great time. There were nephews and nieces and their spouses (and their family members)...

Nov 14, 2013 - My Mom

Just a short note to let you know that my Mom passed away last Wednesday. My sister was on her way up from New Jersey and Buzz & I were on the plane so did not quite make it in time, but my Dad was with her along with a dear friend. She was a wonderful Mom and a true lady. May she be resting in peace with all her loved ones who went before.

Oct 25, 2013 - Celebrating a 70th Anniversary - not ours!

We have been in the Lake George area for quite a while, having arrived here on October 9th. The first few days were busy with getting things ready for my parent’s 70th Anniversary celebration. Anyone who makes it through 70 years of marriage has to be: first, very lucky; second, very stubborn; and third and most important, very committed to the vows they took many years ago which said for better or worse, richer or poorer, and in sickness and in health. They have been through all of those and the idea of not working their way through their...

Sep 28, 2013 - The Miracle Woman

We made it back to my parent’s safely, but I’m sure the residents at The Glen wondered what was arriving in their back parking lot when we pulled in with the brakes rattling every time we touched the pedal (of course, that’s those who could hear it). We parked and were visited shortly thereafter by cousins who were in town to celebrate their 50th anniversary at The Sagamore Hotel on Lake George. They live in Wisconsin and this was a gift from their kids and siblings and they thoroughly enjoyed their weekend except for one little incident....

Sep 5, 2013 - In the Parking Lot

When I left off last, we had just made our way down from the mountains to be with my mother when she had a pacemaker implanted. She is now known as the bionic woman, as she again went into cardiac arrest and had CPR and the paddles the morning before the surgery, came through it and had the procedure with no real complications. It was a rough evening and she is very weak, but not many would survive all that especially at 90 years old. My parents live at The Glen, which is an independent living/assisted living facility. They have a very...

Nov 4, 2011 - Mom & Dad & Lake George

We decided to take a side trip through Garrison, NY (where we used to live) on our way to my parents, mainly so we could once again partake of our favorite pizza at Cold Spring Pizza. We were sure met with a surprise when we headed up the Palisades Parkway and there were trees down all along the road, and crews with their trucks hiding just over every rise. It was quite a perilous trip, but didn’t prepare us at all for what we found when we crossed the Bear Mountain Bridge and drove the east side of the Hudson River towards Garrison. There...

Jun 16, 2010 - Lake George RV Park

After a 320 mile drive from Pennsylvania, we have finally arrived in New York. We will be visiting the area for a few days and exploring the Adirondack Mountains. This part of New York is absolutely beautiful. It is also cool enough to need a jacket. We are going to enjoy this light jacket weather. I am adding a few pictures of our camp site and campground. The Goldfinches have found us already. :-)

Sep 20, 2006 - Queensbury NY

We left Portageville NY and pulled into Queensbury NY near Lake George for a one night stop. We just missed hooking up with some friends from our Alpenlite camping group who are staying about 60 miles away in Albany NY. We just couldn't make connections by phone no matter how hard we tried. The rain was heavy again, we hope it will get better. We are between the Adirondack Mtns and the Appalachians in the Hudson River valley traveling on Hwy 87.
