Apr 25, 2017 - Last State!

Today's ride wasn't short, but it was a rainy, cloudy day and we had an uneventful ride. We'll take the uneventful ride, no surprises are a good thing! We woke to rain, and it didn't stop until after we were parked, the wipers were going most of the drive. Mike just wants it noted, despite the speed limit being 55, no one in Pennsylvania drives the limit! The GPS was not happy with him, "speed warning", "speed warning", ha ha. We noticed fields and fields of grapevines, it will be beautiful in a month or so, once they have leaves. Welch's...

Texas Again

May 20, 2016 - Pulaski, NY

Brennan Beach RV Resort (Encore) Pulaski, NY We arrived here Thursday to take a break. I thought with Beach in the name it would be a good place to relax. The park was pretty empty of people when we arrived but some of the seasonals came in today. There are 1200 seasonals here with permanent park trailers and rv's. We thought it looked junky. All the sites on the water or a view of the water are seasonal. They have very nice facilities though and a so called beach. You can't park at the beach. There is a walkway to the beach and boardwalk...

Sep 20, 2014 - Pulaski, NY

We drove to Pulaski, NY along Lake Ontario and stayed at Streamside, RV park and Golf course which was right off I-90. The course was a 12 hole regulation course but you could also play 9 holes twice to get 18. We played 9 holes only on two separate days. We are awful. The course was not particularly long from an individual hole standpoint but the fairways were very narrow and on either side of them were woods that gobbled up balls or little pockets of water disguised by thickets. No sand traps but no matter, we found every single thicket...

Falling Leaves Tour

Jul 28, 2012 - Lake Ontario

At last we see one of the great lakes. We camped at Brennan Beach on the lake shore. Beautiful beach, beautiful sunset, and a band playing the 60- 70's music just for us. Got to walk on the beach, wade in warm water, listen to a live band, and enjoy life.

Simpson RV travels

Jul 6, 2011 - We have a new home

Well, we have a major change. Since we no longer will be pulling our RV anymore, we decided to trade our Jayco Eagle 5th wheel for a new park model to give us more room, and to eliminate the steps that we stumble down in the dark. After a couple of days of shopping and comparing various models, we decided to get the Salem Villa Estate model. It is very nice, and I am sure we will be happy in it for many summers to come.

May 17, 2011 - Settled . . . sort of

After a nice breakfast, we got to Bear's about 10 AM. John, the owner, was waiting for us, and we got one side of the RV jacked up far enough to get a 2 x 12 under each wheel. That got the RV level enough to open the slides and start unloading the Odyssey and moving in. When Spence and Connie get up later this week, he will come over with his truck to hook up to the 5th wheel and move it to where we want it on the site and get it level. The sun was actually shining today. Haven't seen it for 3 days. There will be no more entries until...

May 16, 2011 - Headed for Bear's

Left West Carrollton at 6 AM. Had a nice weekend with Kim, Seth and Ben. Still raining, although it did stop once in awhile. Biggest slow down was getting through the toll booths at the south end of Buffalo, as the wait was about 10 minutes. Got to Oswego, NY in time to stop at the Credit Union before they closed and get some cash and new checks they were holding for us. We arrived at Bear's Sleepy Hollow about 4:30 PM, but realized that the 5th wheel wasn't level enough for us to open the slides and stay there. Couldn'r find anyone that...

Apr 8, 2011 - Heading north again to just south of the Canadian border

After a major storm had passed by we headed north again. First stopping at Pine Grove, Pennsylvania where we visited the Anthracite Museum at Ashland. It was one of the best mining museum we had visited on our travels. Although small it had simple but informative exhibits explaining about the coal mining industry in the area. The next day we travelled north again travelling over 250 miles to Pulaski, New York state ready to cross the border into Canada the next day.

Monday, September 29, 2008 Chris and April Cummings home, Pulaski, NY The day met us with clouds and cool temps, but the fishing trip was ON! The children got on the bus and then off we headed to a favorite spot of Chris’ along the river a few miles away. He could smell the fish and was ready to meet them up close and personal! About half an hour later we were all decked out in waders and rods in hand as we headed down the trail to the gorgeous river…just underneath a one lane bridge. It was a truly beautiful setting. There were probably...

Sunday, September 28, 2008 Chris and April Cummings home, Pulaski, NY It is Sunday and we have had a most relaxing day. After attending church with the Cummings, we all came to our “house” for Sunday lunch and then the menfolk donned their wadders and cast their lines into the river behind the house while April and the children took me on a walking tour of the village of Pulaski. We simply walked a block to the bridge that is across the Salmon River and watched the lines of fishermen trying to catch that big King! We wandered across the...

Saturday, September 27, 2008 Chris and April Cummings home, Pulaski, NY We have had another rainy overcast day…gray, but nice. We spent our morning apart from each other…I was in the campground laundry room doing a bit of homemaking duties while Chuck was in the trailer working on his thoughts and research for a Sunday School class he will begin teaching back at home in November. It was a fast morning and we were soon hitched up and pulling out of the campground by 12:30pm and on our way to the town of Pulaski, N.Y. and to the home of Chris...

Jul 31, 2008 - OTRA - NY - Pulaski (Brennan Beach)

It's time to move on to the next leg of our journey...on to New York. Left this morning at 10:50. We ARE getting better at this! Next stop, Brennan Beach RV Park in Pulaski, New York, on the shores of Lake Ontario, where we will meet up with my son and his family. We'll also stop over to Oneida Lake to visit my daughter and her husband sometime while we're here. Our route took us north on I-380 to I-81 above Scranton. Lots of construction between Scranton and the New York State Line. Traffic did keep moving, though, thank goodness. Hello,...
