Looks like we picked the week of summer here in Western NY. Another gorgeous day with temps in the mid 80's. After lounging in the morning we hit the road for a tour of the Mt. Morris Dam on the Genesee River. The dam was completed in 1951 and protects the flatland areas between here and Rochester. Numerous catastrophic floods occurred about every 7 years until the dam was completed. The tour and exhibits were excellent. We came back to the park from the southern entrance and completed our sight seeing we could not finish the day before....

Aug 2, 2012 - Grand Canyon of the East

We are at Letchworth State Park in Mt. Morris NY after driving just 2 hours from Sayre PA on a beautiful day. We have been in this park numerous times since it is very close to both Geneseo where we went to college (SUNY Geneseo) and Batavia where we lived and our girls were born. This is the first time we have camped here however. The park is a beauty and is 17 miles long comprising over 14,000 acres.
