Aug 4, 2015 - Cooperstown, NY

Days 41 -- 45 (31 July through 3 August) Milford, NY Friday July 31 we left Watkins Glen at 9:15 am and drove 132 miles to Milford, NY (near Cooperstown with Baseball Hall of Fame). We arrived at our RV Park at 1:25 pm, setup and drove around Cooperstown. The town has very narrow streets with a few, very expensive parking spots. Fortunately, the town has a trolley that runs between three parking lots at the edges of town to the Baseball Hall of Fame and other places in town. We went into town to see the Hall of Fame on Saturday. Brian was...

Sep 30, 2011 - Day 32

The temperature has started to take a dip. We spent most of the day at the campground, heading out to the Armory in Oneonta for our all class reunion event. The Class of '61 had a good turnout for the event and the event was well attended. Beer and Wine were served along with sodas and we had a finger food table that was very tasty. Met several of my classmates that I had not seen in quite some time. Some I recognized, others I didn't. Eddi and I had a great time.

Summer 2011

Sep 29, 2011 - Day 31

Today was somewhat rainy so we decided to stay in for the most part. This evening, we went down to Emmons, NY to "My Fathers Place" to listen to a schoolmate, Wes St Onge, and a group of other musicians having a jam session. The music was outstanding.

Summer 2011

Sep 28, 2011 - Day 30

Today we embarked on the Cooperstown Beverage Trail, a four site tour of a cider mill, two breweries and a winery. When you visit the first site, you pick up a brochure that is stamped at their tasting area. At each other site, you present your brochure to get stamped at that location. When you complete the visit of all four sites of the Beverage Trail, they stamp your brochure and you are allowed a choice of either a wine glass or a beer glass for free. There is no specific order to be accomplished, and all sites do not have to be visited...

Summer 2011

Sep 27, 2011 - Day 29

Our adventure today continued with a visit to the Cooperstown Farmers Museum. I had been there growing up, but they have changed some of the exibits. The Museum is partly a reproduction of an 1800's village and farm. The buildings were all moved here from within a 100 mile radius and all date back to the mid to late 1800's. They also had a carousel this time. Hope you enjoy the pictures. The day turned out quite nice, although the weather reports predicted rain. The rain held off until after we returned to the coach and it is currently...

Summer 2011

Sep 26, 2011 - Day 28

Today we left the Thousand Island area and traveled down NY 12 to Utica and then down NY 28 over to Cooperstown. The day was very sunny with only a few clouds and temps in the 70's. Our campground for the next 7 days is Hartwick Highlands Campground in Milford, NY. We had planned to stay nearer Oneonta, but after calling, one was still closed due the the Susquehanna River flooding and the other just said they were closed. So, we selected one that was between Oneonta and Cooperstown. We'll try to do some sightseeing before the reunion on Fri...

Jul 16, 2010 - Blues Express Train

This small town is the beginning of a slow train ride for about 8.5 miles north to Cooperstown and back. The local railroad historical society sponsors/hosts regular train rides and themed rides, like train robberies, fall foliage, dinner rides, and Santa rides. My friends Chic and Marilyn went with me on this Blues Express where a local band played in the open car and almost all the passengers stood or danced there. We ate on board first and the homemade pizza was very good! I also discovered I like Bud Light with Lime! The ride went...

Summer in New York

May 30, 2008 - Watkins Glen, NY to Milford, NY

We had good weather for the drive from the Finger Lakes region to Milford, just outside of Cooperstown, NY. More farms and rolling hills, which we enjoy. Our campground was about 5 miles outside of Cooperstown and had lots of wooded trails which Ollie really enjoyed. You can see in the photo how much he enjoys traveling. We drove into Cooperstown and just walked the streets. As you might imagine, there are baseball-oriented shops everywhere. We stopped to take photos of two of our favorite t-shirts. There should be no doubt in anyone's mind...
