Jul 16, 2015 - Jamestown, New York

Today started around 0800 for the drive from Sandusky, Ohio to Jamestown, New York, a distance of 211 miles. They were glad to leave the KOA campground in Sandusky because it is very muddy and the soil so soft and the sites so narrow and the roadways also narrow it makes it difficult, if not impossible, to navigate in and out without making davits in the soil. Ross did try his best do as little damage as possible but there are some deep davits in the soil of the campsite they occupied. The weather has dried up a little and the temperatures...

2015 New York Trip

Oct 2, 2013 - Lucy, Desi, Dee and Ken

We took a couple of side trips this week. On Sunday we went with an impulse and headed to North East where the annual Winefest was concluding. On the way we called some relatives and friends to see if we could connect with them while we were in town. My cousin, Patty, was in Pittsburgh and our friend, Joanne, had dinner plans. But we did reach Peggy and Bruce Campbell and Linda and Terry Henderson. After spending a short time visiting the Winefest booths in the park in North East we headed to the Campbells where we had a fun visit. Shortly...

Jul 26, 2012 - A week in Ohio's Amish Country and on to Jamestown, NY

So I guess I just have to mention our puppy adventures, Lucy is surely one of the smartest dogs we have ever met. In just 3 short weeks she has managed to train both Bob and me to do exactly whatever she wants whenever she wants to do it. We are crate training her so when we are too exhausted to deal with her anymore, we can put her down for a nap……sometimes we have to take a nap too. Actually she is being a pretty good puppy, almost completely house broken and has slept through the night since we got her. We did go to several of the...

Aug 1, 2010 - Last day at Hidden Valley

Last evening turned out to be quite nice. The firewood was dry so we had another nice fire. One group played BINGO at the campground and another sat around the fire. After BINGO they joined us. Even though it had rained the ground soaked it right up and it did not feel as damp as the night before. I was out at the fire for a couple hours and then went in to relax and get to bed early. Another good night for sleeping. I got up early and watched a little news to catch up on events. We gathered at nine for a light breakfast. The weekend has...

Jul 31, 2010 - Saturday at Hidden Valley

Well it was nice falling to sleep last night to the sounds of the babbling brook. The tea I drank at dinner kept me up well past midnight but then I slept pretty good. I woke up early but then rolled over and slept till after 8:30, good thing breakfast was at 9. We eat as a group normally except Saturday lunch, so breakfast is a good time to have a business meeting also and that went well and was pretty short. Its an other beautiful clear blue sky day here. It will be good for reading and just taking it easy. Bonnie is already off in her...

Jun 23, 2010 - Lucy-Desi Museum in Jamestown, NY

Lucy-Desi Museum in Jamestown, NY We discovered the Lucy-Desi Museum in Jamestown, New York. Jamestown is the birthplace of Lucille Ball. The entire town has made itself the spotlight of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. Everywhere you look there is some dedication to the pair. The Lucy-Desi Museum is filled with artifacts of the life of Lucy and Desi. There were displays with numerous pictures and momentos of her life in and out of Hollywood. The Desilu Playhouse was down the street and was filled with artifacts of their Hollywood life....

Road Trip 2010

Dec 26, 2007 - Heading South

After a very unfortunate incident yesterday we made our trek on with a slight deviation from the original plan. When we got to the border yesterday we made a very unfortunate discovery, my husband who was supposed to and said he did and double checked did not bring along our doggies' paperwork. Needless to say, we were unable to cross the border. We had to cancel our reservations that we had made and after our lovely day looking around the American side of the falls we had to head out. I can tell he feels terrible so I have done my best to...

Aug 28, 2006 - August 25, 26, 27, 28, 2006

Left Ohio behind and drove to Red Oak Campground in Warren, Pennsylvania. Welcome to the home state!!! Gotta say that this part of Pennsylvania is as beautiful as many places we saw during our trip. The Allegheny Mountains are lovely, green and they are every bit as steep as some we saw in the Rockies, although not quite as high. It is nice seeing green, lushness again. We met our friends Carol and Jack Hugill at the Red Oak Campground in Warren, PA on Friday afternoon and spent a lovely night chatting about what has happened to all of us...
