Nov 21, 2010 - Sell our Honeoye, NY home

Home to clean out the house in preparation for the sale. Disposing of 28 years of stuff in three buildings was a monumental task. About 5% was sold 90% given away and 5% in a storage unit. Thank god for our kids, we have no idea how we would have completed the task without their help. Our son Ralph and his lovely wife Becky even had us leave the bed, couch, chair and TV which they took care of after we left. We signed all the papers to close the sale of our house and gave our attorney the power-of-attorney to complete the closing during the...

Sep 21, 2010 - Summer of 2010

Pat and I spent most of the summer in Honeoye, our home and visited family and friends. Also went to a few fairs in our area including a Steam Pageant and a sauerkraut festival. In July we drove to Niagara Falls, Canada for the day. From our place, it makes for a nice day trip. We enjoyed the Falls View Casino buffet and got a table overlooking the falls. If you visit Niagara Falls Canada, this is the place to go. We didn’t want the RV to grow roots so in August; we took a quick 80 mile trip to Tioga, PA a tiny village with a population...

Aug 17, 2010 - Honeoye!

We got up and drove some more to arrive at Honeoye Lake at five. Nothing really happened before that except us being bored and Emily getting a hyper attack twenty minutes before we got there. Emily got on her bathing suit and jumped in once, but I don't really like algae baths. The lake was a bright, bright green from algae, but hadn't yet formed big globs. Mom and Josh came at about nine and we all went to bed after reading some bumper stickers she'd gotten at the Long Trail Festival.

May 30, 2010 - Back to Honeoye

May 26th – Although we have taken the Winnebago factory tour a few times in the past we decided to take it again. It turned out that we were the only people for that particular tour which made it even more interesting. We were pleased to see that they have invested heavily in manufacturing assets and the plant looked quite busy. We were told that they have been recalling a lot of employees. It was surprising to learn that mixed in with the current models were some 2011 models. The 2013 motorhomes are in development now, but we are not...

Dec 30, 2009 - Off for the 2010 travel season

We’re back in Honeoye to celebrate the holidays with our family and conduct the multitude of doctor appointments. We had a very enjoyable time with the family. Pat’s sister Bonnie had Thanksgiving and Christmas at her house this year. Bonnie’s son Michael got married Thanksgiving weekend so we had a lovely time at the wedding and reception with friends and family. Christmas Eve we went to our son and daughter in laws home. Our grandson came but our daughter was still recovering from surgery she had November 11th. That was a tough time for...

May 24, 2009 - Home for a while

After North Platte, NE we had an overnight stay at a public campground in Des Moines, IA. Fortunately it’s not often that we stay in a public campground, but when we do, it heightens our appreciation for our membership parks which are free or on rare occasions up to $14 per night. We find the public parks are consistently running $32 to $40 per night. We arrived at the Winnebago plant Sunday afternoon, May 17th. After picking a parking spot in the small park next to the service area we socialized with the other folks scheduled for service...

Dec 27, 2008 - Christmas 2008 in Honeoye

Everyone had a wonderful Christmas at Pat’s sister, Bonnie and brother in laws’ house on December 21st. Her brother Mark, his kids and their kids were there also. Twenty of us made a houseful and brought back memories of past holidays when everyone got together often. Pat’s sister Bonnie and husband left for Florida Christmas day to see their daughter Kelly who had a baby girl, their first grandchild, born on December 13th. We had plans to leave December 26th for Texas and west for the winter. Between all the snow storms and the doctor...
