Aug 16, 2014 - Holley, New York

Today was another drive day. We left about 9:15 and arrived at Red Rock Ponds RV Park in Holley at 2:45 just in time for free ice cream sundaes. It was again around 220 miles. We continued to drive along the Seaway Byway until getting to Interstate 81 which was inland a bit. We had to get off the interstate before we got to Interstate 90 as we did not want to pay the high tolls so headed west on the 104. This was a good 2 lane road. We went through Oswego which was a nice town but could not find anywhere to pull off. The next large town,...

Sep 1, 2011 - Western New York

Niagara Falls was breathtaking. Truly one of the 7 wonders of the world. We learned some of the history of the area; especially, regarding the battles that took place as the British, French, Native Americans and early Americans battled to own it since it was such a phenomenal power source. EVERYONE SHOULD SPEND AT LEAST A FEW HOURS VISITING THIS MOST MAGNIFICENT CREATION BY MOTHER NATURE. After spending hours scouring the NY Visitor Information publication, I finally found 1 state site for Native Americans. It was our first time to see a...

Jun 26, 2010 - Red Rock Ponds Saturday

Lots of birds here so I was awake early as they were happily singing and greeting the new day. Bonnie woke up to some workers throwing rocks and setting concrete forms. I wandered out to the pavilion about 8:00. As always John had the coffee ready and Scott was soon firing up the griddle for pancakes. The pancakes were great and complimented by orange juice, sausage, coffee cake and cantaloupe. We were entertained when the concrete truck showed up and 5 or 6 guys worked the concrete to form what is to become a basketball court. Bonnie went...

Summer 2010

Jun 25, 2010 - Chapter 12 Campout Red Rock Ponds

Bonnie ended up having to work all day so we left home at 4:15. I had to hit the brakes a little hard as a car turned in front of me without much warning. A short time later we smelled hot brakes. I found a place to pull over and checked the wheels. No smoke just a little smell. We had twenty miles to go so we proceeded, now the ABS warning light is on. The club was pulling out for dinner as we pulled in, we told them to go ahead and we would set up and relax. I did not notice any strong brake smell so am hoping all is good. Art was the...

Summer 2010

Aug 12, 2009 - Wednesday

We went over an met out neighbors that had two kids and Alexus was set for the day. They went fishing, boating and canoeing together. The kids parents were thankful to have her entertain them. They were a nice couple from up near the Lake and he is a Rochester Police Officer so we had good conversations for the rest of the day as we sat and watched the kids play and swim. We combined our hot dogs and I grilled them and we made some mac and cheese to go with supper. They provided drinks and salad. After word we loaded up on bug spray and sat...

Red Rock Ponds

Aug 11, 2009 - Red Rock Ponds

Tuesday I got up and made a quick trip to court and took care of a few duties there and then came home. Alexus had been busy packing food and her clothes so we loaded up the motor home and checked it over for the trip. We pulled out about 11:45am and headed North to Red Rock Ponds near Holley, NY. Not a long trip only about 57 miles. We had to take an indirect route because of the road construction in Batavia, but ran into one delay as they are paving Route 77 also. We pulled into the campground just after 1:00PM. It was hot and humid so we...

May 31, 2008 - Holley, NY - Hickory Ridge Golf and RV Resort

We were up at 4:00 AM...unable to sleep. Bob said the red cardinal in the tree next to the motorhome kept hitting himself into our window , so that kept him up and I just couldn't sleep. So, pulled ourselves together and left PA for NY.Arrived around 8:30 AM at the Hickory Ridge Golf and RV Resort, where our dear friends from Nature's Coast Landings, The Speers - Brian, Diane and Tyler, are managing and assisting to develop this new RV resort. Last summer, I visited with the Speers, while vacationing here in the area with my family, and they...
