Aug 8, 2012 - And they're off

Don and Jeanne picked us up at Aunt Leona's and we headed west. We stopped for lunch at the Newtown Battlefield over looking the valley near Wellsburg NY and then resumed our journey. We pulled into another favorite friends place you may remember. We are at Billy and Linda Graham's camp in Friendship NY. It was on our way and once again they have played the magificent hosts. More travels today as we continue to head to Lake Geneva Wisconsin for the BF'er Banquet which begins Sunday. OK we celebrated our 17th month anniversary on our journey...

Jul 7, 2012 - On the road again

We are about to wrap up our visit at Billy and Linda's camp. Yesterday Shirley and Linda dug up wild lilly's for transplanting. Shirley drove the ATV. I cleaned the inside of the camper and truck so now we have a completly clean and neat home. We are heading to Sayre PA to visit for a couple of days to visit Shirley's mother and other relatives then we head to Long Island to visit with my parents before Dad and I go to CA for Rosie's wedding (his grandaughter, my niece). So we are busy people. We've also enjoyed our visit with Billy and...

Jul 6, 2012 - They say it's your birthday

Happy birthday to you. Today is my father's 89th birthday. I share his name and couldn't be prouder about that. Happy birthday Dad. A beautiful day at Billy and Linda's camp yesterday. We took advantage of it by cleaning the camper and truck. Billy took Shirley on an ATV ride and she loved it. Linda took us to Bolivar NY and we went to an oil museum. This was a big oil producing area back in the day. I grilled burgers for dinner and we had fresh corn on the cob. Billy and I stayed up late solving the world's problems. Another great day in...

Jul 5, 2012 - At camp

Billy and Linda call their home in the woods Camp. It is quite a camp. 70 acres and beautifully carved out clear spaces make this a wonderful place. We came through a big thunderstorm at Chautauqua Lake but it turned nice as we got here. A little storm in the afternoon but it cleared nicely. Billy and Linda are perfect hosts as always. Shirley has already baked brownies, a favorite treat around here. I had the rare opportunity to watch the Braves game last night. They lost again but it was fun watching. For those of you wondering, Billy has...

Jul 6, 2011 - Happy Birthday Dad

Today is my father's 88th birthday. He is an amazing man in many ways and I am proud to share his name as a Jr. Another fine day yesterday. Weather was perfect. We must have stumbled upon the one week of summer in Western New York. Sunny and low 80's. We took a step back in time for breakfast yesterday being treated to Sloppy Joe's Deli down the road. Billy and Linda (our hosts), their friends Tom and Bonnie and the two of us were entertained by a bluegrass band for over an hour. This reminded us of the wonderful evenings we spent early on...

Jul 5, 2011 - Short Travel Day

We headed out from Shirley's old stompin' grounds after a nice breakfast with Shirley's Aunt Leona and drove a relatively short distance to Friendship NY. Our Decatur GA. next door neighbors Billy and Linda have a "camp" here. I tell you this doesn't look like "camp" to me. A beautiful home in a great setting. They come up here summers and Billy comes back to hunt in the fall when deer season opens. We had a nice gathering yesterday of two couples who live nearby. It is hard to actually be near by when you have 70 acres! We had spaghetti...
