Aug 13, 2016 - From Kansas to Campbell, New York

We hit the road to Kansas, but Kansas hit back. The winds were something between 30 to 50 MPH and pushed us back and forth all over the road for seven hours. Had to stop a couple of times just to relax my hands from gripping the steering wheel so tight. When we stopped at the Kansas Welcome Center there was a Wizard of Oz display. This gives me a chance to pass a little trivia to y'all. The two pictures posted here is yours truly in an Elementary School (PS22) production of the Wizard of Oz, circa 1956, age 12 where I played the Scarecrow...

Sep 10, 2014 - He'll Give You The Shirt Off His Back!

9/10/2014 Wednesday He’ll Give You the Shirt Off His Back! The Navigator only booked us for 2 nights here at the Camp Bell campground so we could see what the place was like. It turns out that we like it here and chose to stay through Saturday so the Nav had to walk over to the office at 8am and re-up us for the rest of the week. The office door was locked so she rang the bell. Slowly the the door creaked open and there stood a hairy pot-bellied man with no shirt on motioning the Nav inside. Forty minutes later the Nav came ambling back to...

Sep 8, 2014 - I Fractured My Prune!

9/8/2014. Monday. I Fractured My Prune! After spending Sunday resting, I was ready to hit the road this morning. We pulled out of the KOA at 9:30am and drove to an Exxon station in Williamsport to gas up and then headed over to I70 west on our trek to Corning, NY. We decided to take I99/US220 north trough the Alleghenies at the leisurely pace of 55 Arrive Alive. What a beautiful drive through the rolling hills of a very picturesque countryside. Fall is in the air! The temps are in the mid 70's and a gentle breeze is caressing the RV; Yeah,...

Sep 21, 2008 - Campbell, NY

Saturday, September 20, 2008 Camp Bell Campground, Campbell NY We were up and thinking about what to do for a couple of hours before we needed to check out, so since we still had the bikes in the back of the truck, we headed on to town and thought we could bike around the lake. Actually, we could not, but we did manage a few miles around the town harbor and park. It was very breezy with a good amount of waves on the water and the sun was covered by some high clouds. As we made our way across the park area, there were about 4 or 5 folks...
