Jun 27, 2011 - So little time and so much to see
Pardon the laps yesterday but we have to sleep sometime. WOW what a whirlwind and what FUN! We spent the entire day Saturday with our friends Bob and Mary Lovria. It was again like we haven't been apart for the 25 years we have with the exception of a few visits here and there. We were going to ride bikes but the weather did not cooperate. We talked, went to lunch at a locally famous Pizza place, talked, had barbeque dinner at our camp, played games and talked. The day flew by. Sunday we got up early and had breakfast at Don and Pat's (see...Jump to full entry
Jun 25, 2011 - Home town visitin'
More rain met us in Batavia (how appropriate). Summer here is either the last week of July or the first week of August or maybe just a part of either week. However, we had a ball yesterday catching up with people we have not seen in a long, long time. After a rousing bout of laundry we commenced visitin'. We stopped at Julio and Connie Lamilia's home. They lived across the street from us but have since moved. It was great catching up with them after 25 years. They were very kind saying we hadn't changed. Their two kids Mary Ann and Joseph...Jump to full entry
Jun 24, 2011 - Can you really ever go home?
We left the Wal-mart parking lot and headed west (wasn't there a famous saying about heading west young man?). We stopped by the old Erie Canal historical marker and saw the original section of the canal which was interesting then headed for Batavia NY. Many of you know this but a lot don't so here is the Batavia story in our lives. We lived here from 1974-86. Our oldest daughter Darci was born here. Our youngest daughter Collins was born up the road in Rochester. We bought our first home and raised our little children here. I was a radio...Jump to full entry
Aug 8, 2009 - Niagara Falls
When we arrived at Niagara Falls the view was absolutely amazing!!! The thundering falls were just mouth-dropping! It was extremely beautiful!!! We absolutely loved the Cave of the Winds where you could go up underneath the falls by going up to the Hurricane Deck, Megan absolutely loved it (which really does feel like you’re in a hurricane). If you didn’t feel like going under the falls you could simply walk all around the Cave of Winds looking at the awesome power and beauty of the falls. But no matter which way you go, you do get wet...Jump to full entry
May 16, 2009 - Day 1- We're Off!
Day 1 Sanford, Maine- Batavia, NY 10am-9pm. Driver: Pamela A little tired from the late night of packing, re-packing and double checking all our belongings, but we managed to wake up around 7:00am to pack the car and tie up any loose ends. My mom (Linda) helped us pack our food, mend my shorts and watch Bailey as we ran around the house, like chickens with our heads cut off, to finish packing. We finally left around 10am and headed towards New York via Concord, Keene and Brattleboro. We chose this way to avoid the tolls on the route Map...Jump to full entry
May 8, 2009 - Jell-o
We took a slight detour to Leroy, NY, near Batavia. How could we not visit the Jell-o Museum, the birthplace of the dessert of our childhood. A bored builder developed this dessert while experimenting during the winter months and went on to sell the business and the idea to Post for $450. This was in the early 1900's. The Post family then sold it for over $50,000,000 to Kraft and Jell-o continues. Several people from this area of New york were very involved in the Underground Railroad. It was rather humbling to look at the sleigh used to...Jump to full entry
May 26, 2007 - Camping At Lei Ti Campgrounds
We pulled out of Warsaw at 11:00 am heading for Lei Ti Campgrounds which is about a half hour or less away. We got there and paid for our site and got directions back to the spot. It was a spoy with a lot of shade and it was a little chilly in the evening even with a big fire going. Had a good time all weekend met the people next door who stay there on the weekends in there own trailer. They were from Gates which is about 45 minutes away. We went to a band on Sunday that played country rock for about 2 hours.Jump to full entry
