Jul 7, 2010 - Melissa Etheridge!

I treated myself to dinner out with friends and a concert - Melissa's first stop on her new tour. Cheryl's daughter bought the CD and was kind enough to make a few copies. Cheryl gave me one - I like all the songs on it! And Melissa played them as well as lots of her classic ones during her concert of over two hours! I saw a few other friends from when I lived and worked in Albany and it felt great to see them and be greeted in such a friendly manner! way cool! thanks everyone!

Summer in New York

Jun 15, 2010 - Albany, NY - visit 1

I had the pleasure of visiting a few friends in Albany for a couple of days, where I worked and lived for 28 years. Albany and Saugerties (where I was raised) have a Dutch heritage and I am part Dutch, so isn't that just dandy? Albany gets outdoor sculptures from artists and displays them around town every summer. Some of them stay around for a couple of years, and that's what i saw on this visit. The ones for this year are coming into town during the week and should be in place for their "garden party" on Friday. Brochures should be ready...

Our Maine Adventure

Jun 11, 2009 - Day Two - Albany

Today we went into the state capitol of New York, Albany. We had to get our phone fixed and Brian needed to be fitted for a Tux for Gary & Michelle’s wedding. Once we got all that done we headed into downtown and went to the New York State Museum. The museum is huge we spent two hours and only saw ½ of tit. The museum is four floors and there is so much to even tell you about most of it. The one part of the museum that really affected us was the World Trade Center. They had a fire truck from the Sixth Fire Station which was the first...

Jun 10, 2009 - Albany, New York

Sunday June 7 2009 Well we are in Schedenby New York it was quite an eventful trip. You know we have our GPS (we've named her Nancy) well up until now Nancy has been fantastic never leading us astray. Well we have to say that Nancy almost got us into a few situations coming into our current campsite. First off we exited off the freeway and low and behold she tells us to turn right so that's what we did but right after turning the corner it came to a tunnel 10' high guess what we are 12'8. We had to back up our fifth wheel all the way back...

Sep 19, 2008 - Day 27

It's Shabbat! We are grateful for Shabbat's SHALOM!! We are spending Shabbat in a state park in Vermont. Got in late so will have to explore tomorrow and see just where we are, got a glimpse of a lake though, as we were purusing campsites, so tomorrow should offer plenty of adventure opportunities. Getting to the capitol in Albany was no picnic, actually being in New York has had its challenges. The roads are in desperate need of repair, they remind me of the scripture, "everything that can be shaken will be shaken," we are getting a good...

Aug 20, 2008 - Albany, NY once again

I got back yesterday about noon and left my motorhome at a repair shop while I went to a library to update this website. At the end of the day I found out that they couldn't get everything done but that they found something that concerned them a bit. The body mountings in the front on both driver and passenger sides are broken! I had gone over some rough roads the past couple of years and I did feel the coach sway and heard it groan as it went down dips and over bumps, but I thought that was good that it could flex with the road...

Jun 30, 2008 - Albany, NY

Today was our final stop before completing our coast to coast trip begun just over a month ago – Albany, NY. We were camped about 20 miles east of the city in a rural town called Nassau. The campground was quiet, much less buggy than the one in Ithaca, and as convenient to Albany as we could get. We drove into Albany on Tuesday and caught the 10 am tour of the capitol. The capitol building is part of a very large governmental complex with tunnels connecting parking garages and the surrounding buildings. This tour marked our fourth capitol...

Jan 19, 2008 - Albany

Me and Minhee had a nice, if not cold, weekend. We went ice skating on Saturday. It was the first time Minhee went ice skating in her life and my first time in over 8 years. The Watertown Ice Rink was full of elementary school kids zooming around the ice as fast as they could go and weaving in and out of people like an over-testosterone teenage boy driving on a busy interstate highway. I am in no way a Scott Hamilton on the ice and had a hard time stopping or turning to avoid these kids. Luckily for me, not so lucky for the kids, I...

Jan 13, 2008 - Day 6 - Albany

Checked out today on my way to Albany, NY. Was supposed to be in Montreal another day but the threat of snow made me decide to leave one day early. Spent the morning walking around a different part of Old Town and just people watched. Stopped in for a chocolat chaud (hot chocolate) and ordered in french, pretty cool but I'm sure the guy behind the counter thought I was a stupid American. The people I have interacted with have actually been very helpful and friendly. Took $100 canadian out of an ATM last night but only used 60 of it so I had...

Oct 13, 2007 - Albany, NY

The drive to Albany, NY was easy from Montreal. The campground was on the Mohawk River in the town of Glenville, near the closed Naval base and across the river from Schenectady. Jo brought her son, Gavin over Sunday morning to visit. He's a bright-eyed cutie, and is so sweet. He MUST be adopted, har-har. He surely won't grow up to be a "mean girl," like Jo, Traci, Bill, and Lynn. Hmmmm. Maybe since he's not in Warrensburg, he will be ok. Jo invited us over to Chez Bouchey for giant T-bones for dinner with her parents, Cliff and Deb, her...
