Mar 17, 2019 - Happy Saint Patrick's Day
We hope everyone had a wonderful Saint Patrick’s Day. We did the usual, we checked out all the restaurants for the corned beef and cabbage specials. We found one at a Mexican Restaurant for only $9 each. We had lots of corned beef, cabbage and potatoes and green pea soup with ham. Jerry has been waiting a while to be able to wear his outstanding green Irish shirt. He bought it last year at the end of the holiday season and had to wait a whole year. He got a lot of comments, we had a fun day and hope all our readers did too. Check back...Jump to full entry
Sep 1, 2016 - Bernalillo NM – Coronado Campground
Just biding our time before we can go to our site for Labor Day weekend. That’s why we don’t like reservations. We usually end up having to sit and wait because we get to the area where the reservations are a few days early and we can’t move on. Oh well, such is life. Saw another snake while here. Don’t know what it was, but it sure was long. Roger tried chasing it out of our campsite and it ended up climbing up into the truck (under the hood). Hope that thing got out of there. I don’t need any surprises driving down the road.Jump to full entry
Apr 5, 2015 - Happy Easter to Everyone
First of all I want to wish everyone a peaceful Happy Easter and hope you all have a great day with your loved ones. We will be spending it with Judy's daughter, Dianne and her son Noah along with her faineance Charlie. Yeah, bring on the ham and all the fixings. - I'll continue the journal entry starting at our last stop and our trip to Riverbend Hot Springs. We had a peaceful soak in our private tub right on the banks of the Rio Grande.(See photos). - Time came to leave Caballo Lake and we had a pleasant drive north to Coronado...Jump to full entry
Oct 8, 2014 - Land of Enchantment
Short day today as we stopped for the night north of Albuquerque off I-25 instead of to the west on I-40. Winnie's not feeling well again today. It appears we are are having emergency brake trouble again. When we got it fixed in Cumberland the "Auto Park Warning Light" was on, but I was assured by the guys at CHP everything was working. After stopping for lunch along I-25, I noticed that the "Auto Park" light went off (good?), but the other warning light "Brake System Warning Light" or "Parking Brake Indicator Light" came on as we returned...Jump to full entry
Sep 26, 2012 - Another day, another playground
Sept. 26, 2012 Amazingly, since the sky had been clear, we had rain off and on most of the night, with distant thunder and lightening as well. From Farmington, we drove southeast through some really dry country and then some scenic areas to Bernalillo, near Albuquerque. Great playground at the Coronado State Monument.Jump to full entry
Oct 15, 2011 - On the road again
Oh my!!! It really feels good to be moving again. JC is doing GREAT! He manages to get all his "blue jobs" done without my assistance. We are sharing the driving. At the end of the day, he is ready to go to bed, but then so am I. He does tire easily, but it has not slowed him down much. We are just taking things a little easy. Our first night brought us to Lingle, Wyoming. A PA park called Pony Soldier RV Park. It has definitely seen better days. The rate should have been $13, but she charged us extra for being 40 feet and required us to...Jump to full entry
Sep 30, 2010 - Coronado State Monument and CG
I'm too early to go into the rally field for the balloon fiesta, so I stayed a few miles north for a couple of days to enjoy a few things. I lucked out to get what I consider the best site in the park with water and electric (no site has sewer) and could face the Sandia Mountains instead of other campsites! While here, I visited the Coronado State Monument and saw ruins of the Kuaua Pueblo (name is not just for the Indians, but their town - each pueblo has its own name). The new and interesting things about this Monument are that some of...Jump to full entry
Jul 26, 2008 - Onward North!!!
Hi everyone!! We got on the road this a.m to very wet weather, but in high spirits! The Wildlife Refuge stop was cancelled as it was POURING rain. So onward we went to ABQ, 1st stop - Museum of Natural History. FANTASTIC - we had a blast watching the Dinosaur movie in the Lockheed Martin DynoTheater. Way cool! The kids had a blast naming all the dinos and seeing just how big they really were! Next, we headed up to the Bernalillo KOA. The kids rode their bikes around while we got set up, and then Tim took the kids to the pool (heated...Thank...Jump to full entry
Jun 9, 2008 - Dormant volcanos and hot mineral springs!
One of the nice things about RVing is the ability to be flexible. We had planned on heading to the Turquoise Trail today, but lounged around this morning and got a late start. In fact, I soaked a litle while in the hot tub at the campground while Gene did the bulk of packing us up, loading the bicycles, etc for a move of only 18 miles or so to the town of Bernalillo, New Mexico. Its only fair that he packed since I did some laundry last night between dips in the hot tub, while he stayed in the entire time! Anyway, Gene spent so much time on...Jump to full entry
May 6, 2008 - Jemez Mountain.
Well we left Texas yesterday and headed to New Mexico. We weren't able to get a site at Kirtland AFB like we were hoping but, it turned out fine because the KOA we ended up at is great. They even have a small kafe that serves free pancakes to guests or they have a breakfast menu with about three items on it. Of course this morning Steph had the free pancakes but I just had to go for a real breakfast. The home made green chili was the best I have ever had. We decided to deviate from our original plan to visit the Petroglyph Nat'l Monument...Jump to full entry
