May 17, 2018 - Friends,Mentors,Turkeys and Loons

We spent the last three days with friends. So blessed to have such long term friends. Monday and Tuesday night we parked the RV at NH Motor Speedway. Thanks to Steve Ford. Had a great dinner with Steve and Deb and appreciate their calm mentoring. They have seen it all in 30 years of RVing. Tuesday we hiked one of NH many hiking trails and saw mountains familiar to us from the summit. Specifically, Pat's peak which is where the three kids discovered skiing and quickly out skied me. Tuesday PM my best friend Mary hosted dinner. Unfortunately...

Jul 13, 2013 - Back in the USA

Saturday - We arrived home today about 5:00 pm. It was a long day driving but it is good to be home! Terra had to patrol the yard to shack out the chipmunks that have moved into it. Lines were very long at the border crossing. This is the beginning of the Canadian construction holiday. For the next 2 weeks, all the construction workers, plumbers, electricians, etc are on vacation. So it was a mad rush for the border! We had no problems crossing and headed to New Boston. All was well at home. The grass is a bit long and the garden is...

Apr 4, 2013 - HOME!!!

We are home! As Dorothy says: "There's no place like home" 6,166 miles. We had mixed feelings on our last day on the road. We were excited to get home and a tiny bit sad that this adventure is over. We have seen so many neat places in this wonderful country of ours and also met some wonderful people. This journal will be at rest for a bit until we decide to hit the road again. Thank you for all your kind comments and for following along as we traveled. However, there are many adventures to go and more wanderings ahead. Stay tuned, my...

Oct 5, 2008 - Dartmouth College- Hanover, New Hampshire

After driving for two days and getting saturated with all the fall colors, it was nice to visit with family. Samantha gave us a wonderful tour and history of her school. Dartmouth was started in 1769 as a school for men. Women were not admitted until around 1970. Dartmouth is one of the original Ivy League Schools and was a powerhouse in sports for decades in the early years. Unlike most of the other Ivy League schools, Dartmouth has refused to increase its student enrollment. Dartmouth has about 4,000 undergraduates and just over 1,000...

Sep 26, 2008 - Utica, New York to New Boston, New Hampshire

Just a short note and a few pictures from our current leg of our trip. We arrived in New Boston, New Hampshire yesterday afternoon. We are about 70 miles south of Samantha up at Dartmouth. We are currently getting a ton of rain from one storm with "Kyle" coming in tomorrow. The trees are just starting to change and we've been told the peak time will be in two weeks. (That's great, because that's when we plan on leaving). Westayed one night outside of Bennington, Vermont and it was just beautiful everwhere we went. You could almost smell the...

Mar 8, 2008 - 111 Days To Go and there's still snow!

As an introduction to our trip of a life time, it actually started as a trip of a life time for my wife, alone! She was going by herself. It was a flight to Anchorage, rent a car or camper and stay a few months traveling and touring Alaska. Excursions, hiking and quiet solitude & wildlife time. Then my company went out of business and before you knew it, told my wife if I don't find a job, I am coming too.
