Oct. 4, 2012-Today we are visiting the Castle in the Clouds, a huge mansion built in the early 1900s. We drove over in the rain and clouds again. The mansion was two stories, 9000 sq. feet, had 7 bathrooms with many modern conveniences, and a beautiful view from most rooms in the house. At least we were told there was a beautiful view of the lake on one side and the mountains on the other—we couldn’t tell, it was completely fogged in. We had a wonderful time today. We visited Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, then we took a tour of the Castle In The Clouds, in Moultonborough, New Hampshire. We enjoyed seeing 1,000 feet of waterfall, the 1914 Castle, free lectures and a self guided tour. The Castle in the Clouds is the spectacular, 5,500-acre estate built in 1914 in Moultonborough, New Hampshire, by eccentric industrialist Thomas Plant.
