Jun 23, 2015 - American Police Motorcycle Museum

We are thrilled to be open now for our 5th season in beautiful Meredith, New Hampshire. We have over eighty motorcycles and have expanded our collection to include hill climbers, race machines, choppers and beautiful original paint bikes from past decades. We are a private museum and are extremely proud of the fact that we are solely funded by those who support us through our admission fee which has not changed since we opened five years ago. Our gift shop proceeds are used to fund new exhibits each year. Our pride and joy continues to be...

Aug 20, 2014 - Castle in the Clouds

Short road trip to a site known as the "Castle in the Clouds" near Meredith. This was a privately owned home for a rich industrialist in the early 1900s. The estate was built for Thomas Plant, who had made a fortune in the shoe industry. In 1910 Mr. Plant owned the largest shoe factory in the world. The estate known as Lucknow, covers 6300 acres going from the tops of seven different mountains down to Lake Winnipesaukee. There is the main house, a carriage house with a 6 car garage attached, two gate houses, 100 foot greenhouse, farm...

Summer Trip 2014

Aug 19, 2014 - New Hampshire Lakes Region

Here I am in New Hampshire where the temp is 66 degrees at 11:15 in the morning. When I got up it was 54 degrees. There has been a lot of rain lately and with the cooler than normal temps the trees, squirrels, and chipmunks are going crazy. The leaves have actually started to change color. That means that the sap is slowing down in the trees. Overnight the temp was suppose to get into the high 40's. I am told that northern part of New Hampshire should see fall colors by Labor Day weekend. My neighbors from Arizona and I took a day trip up...

Summer Trip 2014

Jun 30, 2012 - Moving to Hew Hampshire in the AM

We'll be moving to Meredith tomorrow and don't expect WI-FI for the next 2 weeks at the park, only a hot spot to work from. The tourists were here in the Plymouth area....Lots of traffic already. Businesses doing very well so far. Took some time to see Historic Plymouth on a walking tour as no parking anywhere near the waterfront. Will have to come back in September when the cranberries are ready.....must be something to see with all the bogs we saw in the Carver area.

Sep 14, 2009 - Lake Winnepesaukee

OUr final stop has been just outside Meredith and Center Harbor New Hampshire. Two perfectly typical, small New England towns nestled along the Lake. Our camp ground was also on the lake and we like it so much we stayed an extra couple of days. Only down side was labor day weekend. The camp was filled and the lake was a mad house. Fortunately they all went home on Monday and we had the place back for ourselves. Again, not much to show or tell about the 8 days we were here. FIshed some, canoed, read, visited town, barbecued some...

Oct 1, 2008 - Scarborough, Me. and Meredith, New Hampshire.

Wednesday 10/1/08 Scarborough, Me. and Meredith, New Hampshire. We drove 10 miles south to Scarborough and stopped at the library. Cherie’s Maiden name is Libbey. The libbey’s immigrated to the new world in the 1600’s at Scarborough. There are several books in the library on the Libbey family including genealogy listings. The last entry for Cherie’s line was her Great-grandfather; none after him. She was disappointed as she knows little about her father’s family. The Scarborough phone book listed as least 200 entries under Libbey or Libby....

Sep 13, 2008 - Meredith, NH

Our final day in Quechee was pretty low key. We drove back into Dartmouth for a bagel sandwich and a Philly cheesesteak (which Mark said was actually really good), did some grocery shopping and went to see the movie Traitor with Don Cheadle (which was pretty good – Don Cheadle was awesome and the story kept you interested the entire time). The next morning we drove about two hours east into New Hampshire and settled in for a few days near Lake Winnipesaukee. Our campground was peaceful and quiet, with a nice lakeside beach and more...

Jul 15, 2008 - Lots going on!!!

I can't believe I have been here a full week!!! What a blast! (How daggy is that comment). So.... my last entry was a week ago ... Monday night ... so ... Tuesday ... hmmmmm. On Tuesday I went for a long walk around my local area. The history of Somerville is somewhat checquered, as it used to be known for Irish Mafia, particularly the "Winter Hill Gang:. One of the members of this gang is on the FBI's Top 10 wanted list! Colloquially termed "Slumerville", it becoming (I love this word!) more "gentrified." Apparently Barack Obama lived here...

Living the Dream

Jun 6, 2008 - The Loon Center, Meredith, New Hampshire

Well life is a bit better this morning but Lee ended up getting us ready to leave practically on his own. At least I could move without sharp pangs this morning so that is progress. Today we headed to Meredith, New Hampshire which was a drive of only 63 miles. Lee spent more time getting ready to leave and then setting up than anything else today! We are camping at the Harbor Hill Campground which is near Meredith. I tried to rest as much as possible and stay on ice with motrin and by mid afternoon I was really feeling a lot better. We...

Our 2008 Travels

Oct 22, 2005 - Meredith, NH

Come fall and nature shows off in New England. The whole region becomes a canvass and nature takes all liberties with the palette. Looking at the trees becomes the favorite activity during this period, as people lose themselves in the spectacular medley of colors. Fall foliage becomes a part of life in autumn if one lives in New England. Apparently, leaf color is specific to the tree depending on the chemicals in the leaves. As the production of chlorophyll stops, the properties of other pigments take over. I read in a book (501 must visit...
