Dec 26, 2014 - Eagle Mountain New Hampshire to Boston

The day has come to say goodbye to New Hampshire. We have had such a wonderful visit with memories that will last forever. Jackson is such a wonderful place. Just like from pictures out of a book. We now have to journey back to Boston for a couple of days sightseeing. We arrived in Boston and checked into the Royal Senesta. A really nice Hotel to stay in. Took a lovely picture of Boston at sunset, and they had a lovely Christmas tree as well. We decided to have dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, really nice place but the servings were...

Dec 25, 2014 - Merry Christmas from Eagle Mountain House and Golf

Merry Christmas. Looks like Santa has visited Eagle Mountain House and Golf. .:) I came down early to get a cup of coffee and wait for the kids, and waited, and waited...lol I had to go upstairs to get Sonia to wake them up. The look on their faces when they came down was magical. We met an Older English couple and they even enjoyed watching opening their gifts from Santa. We then went upstairs to open up the gifts from each others. Then for the rest of the day we relaxed...:) For Christmas Dinner we booked into the Eagle Mountain House and...

Dec 24, 2014 - Eagle Mountain House and Golf.

Today is Christmas Eve and the weather is horrible. Still plenty of snow on the ground but raining all day. We had breakfast at yesterday's again and then went into town to get the last couple of things before Christmas Day. Too much rain for the children to play in the snow unfortunately. Other than going into town we just stayed around the lodge. We had a lovely dinner at The wildcat Inn and Tavern, awesome meal. After dinner the children put their stockings on thd mantle piece, and pillow cases under the tree ready for the big man in...

Dec 23, 2014 - Jackson, New Hampshire

Today we went to Yesterday's for breakfast and had really nice meal. After the meal the kids and I went playing in the snow, and had a really nice time. In the afternoon we drove into Conway and took the children to see the movie Big Hero 6, whilst Sonia went shopping for some last minute things. We then went to Applebees for Dinner. Not a bad place to have a meal. We then drove back to the lodge.

Dec 22, 2014 - Eagle Mountain House and Golf

Today we had to check out out of the Bartlett Inn and drive to Jackson which is about 10 up the road to check into Eagle Mountain House and Golf. Once checked into the lodge which was built in 1879. Very nice old lodge. Even though it is old they have done a good job to make it a bit more modern, but still feels the old world charm. In the afternoon we drove to the base of Mount Washington to take the snow coach to the mountain, but we couldn't get on it until 1345, so we took in some snow tubing, so much fun and we burned alot of energy...

Aug 31, 2010 - Wildcat River Trail

It’s hard to believe this is the last day of August already. Where has this month gone? They say, “time flies when you’re having fun.” Yesterday, we made a return trip to Carter Notch Hut. We approached from the back side this time; we hiked up Wildcat River Trail. The trailhead is at the very end of Carter Notch Road in the small community of Jackson. Our guidebook suggested driving another mile along a forest service road which intersects Carter Notch Road to reduce the hiking distance by a mile. However, that road was gated when we...

Scratchin' the Itch

Oct 19, 2009 - N. Conway & Jackson, NH

The drive today was 500 + miles (due to time constraints via tollway, not our usual path) thru up state NY, VT, & NH countryside...lots of color once out of NY where most of the trees are already bare. The rolling hills, lakes, and colorful surprises of New England still give you a thrill. And pumpkins, and apples, and I think these folks have expanded Halloween into a major industry with all kinds of faux people with pumpkin heads standing around in peoples yards doing whatever!!! Simply amazing! We arrive at Jodie's just past 6 and after...
