Our second New Hampshire adventure was to view the Flume Gorge in Franconia Notch State Park. We purchased our tickets at the visitor's center and set out on the trail which took us over the Pemigewasset River next to a covered bridge. The area is famous for the huge boulders deposited by retreating ancient glaciers. Scott's photos describe the Flume Gorge better than I can. We found Wayne's Citco Market in Lincoln. Jul 25, 2008 - A White Mt. Waterfall Wonderland - in the rain and in the sun

To hopefully beat the impending rain, we left early Wednesday to do some riding in the White Mountain National Forest area. We headed south to Franconia and Woodstock and there it began spritzing, but we decided to chance the weather anyway and headed east on the Kancamagus Highway (Rt. 112), because we’d heard it was a very pretty ride. Franconia Notch is a spectacular mountain pass traversed by a unique interstate parkway which extends from the Flume Gorge at the south end to Echo Lake Beach to the north. For eight miles Interstate 93 is located between the high peaks of the Kinsman and Franconia mountain ranges.
