We met an older gentleman that parked behind us at the truck stop. He was from Toronto and was driving a Canadream RV to Calgary. He gave us some suggestions on the route to take. We had breakfast and were on the road by 9. We drove along Lake Huron for many miles. It had rained during the night and was just overcast most of the day. Aug 10, 2010 - The Notches

We drove the scenic route to Dixville Notch. It’s one of the 4 “notches” or passes (Franconia, Crawford, and Pinkham) through the Appalachian Mountains here in New Hampshire. It’s probably most famous for its political involvement. No presidential candidate since primaries began has missed coming to Dixville Notch. The townspeople are also the first in the nation to vote for president every 4 years.
