Jul 1, 2015 - Wells, Nevada

Today was very slow and lazy morning as neither Ross nor Marge got out of bed until 0800 hours. Their laziness was tied to today’s travels which was a lousy 50 miles east to Wells, Nevada. The reasons for such a short run today was their reservation in Salt lake City has them entering the Pony Express Campground Thursday and leaving on Monday morning. They were not sure exactly when they would leave home because their leaving date was controlled by the stage of their water damage claim. They needed to be certain that everything was in place...

2015 New York Trip

Jun 18, 2015 - Angel Lake, NV

Well, guys, Angel Lake is another one of the campsites that I cannot describe enough for you to pack your bags and leave tomorrow but believe me it it like camping in paradise. We had to climb an 8 mile winding road with no guard rails, that was at least paved. Mike kept his eyes straight ahead. I looked down occasionally. Once at the site we were overwhelmed. There was a small mountain that still had some snow. A waterfall was running into Angel Lake. We have attached pictures but they do no do it justice, as usual. The funniest thing to...

Takin the Slow Road

May 20, 2015 - On The Road Again

We are now on the road to Butte, Montana and then Canada to Alaska. The anticipation is growing. We have seen many things but Alaska is our real destination. Vin is really getting the feel of driving the RV. He drove for over 2 hours and only quit to use the bathroom. We drove across the northern side of Nevada with views of some of the most beautiful but disturbing mountains. It is the end of May and SNOW is still rearing its cold face. We know it sounds funny that we are going to Alaska and we are not enjoying the snow but remember it...

Rolling Vacation

Oct 3, 2014 - All is well in Wells, Nevada

We've made it to Wells, Nevada. And we are staying at the Angel Lake RV park with a really exciting view of the freeway. Whoopee! But there are not a lot of choices here, as this is one of those wide spots in the road that they talk about. But no one is here either. Maybe they are all staying at the casinos? Anyway we are on our way to Ely, tomorrow and then into Las Vegas on Sunday. We will be staying at Nellis Air Force base in Las Vegas for a week!

Heading to the East!

Sep 2, 2014 - Wells, Nevada

We left Bozeman about 7:45. As we keep picking up an hour it makes it easy to get started earlier. Margaret has planned for us to stop in Twin Falls, Idaho. We had a beautiful ride down through the valleys along the Galletin River. Lots of dude ranches and riding stables in this area. It didn't seem like very long when we entered the Yellowstone National Park. We will pass through the west entrance. After stopping at the west entrance for awhile we continued on to Idaho Falls, fueled up and had some lunch. Margaret started looking for...

Jun 9, 2014 - Angel Lake

You know those moments when you say, “Enough is enough!”… I had one of those today. Allow me to explain… The day started out fine. We took a nice walk this morning around the Wells City Park with the sun shining, a cool mountain breeze keeping the temps in the low 70’s, birds singing, flowers blooming… one of those mornings that makes one feel all is well with the world. After our park walk Willie and I wandered over to the post office, picked up our mail, stopped by the library for a visit, and then enjoyed a nice lunch. So far, so good,...

Jun 3, 2014 - Revisiting Wells

Having been to Mountain Shadows RV Park in Wells, NV, a few years ago, we remembered it as a handy place to stay to allow our mail to catch up with us (post office across the street), menu plan and restock our fridge (grocery store next door), and we can walk Blayde and relax (lovely city park a couple of blocks away). Everything is within walking distance in Wells so we can let Goldie have a rest after pulling us up and down all the mountains we have enjoyed these last couple of weeks. Therefore, this week we are taking some time off from...

Jun 23, 2013 - First day on the road...

I know you've all been waiting for me to get to this journal, so now I begin. In celebration of our 40th anniversary we've decided to take another road trip. But first I posted some pictures of our actual celebrations. We received a hot air balloon ride from our boys and grandchildren. We were given a surprise party with Bob's softball team and had a wiener roast, hosted by Alice. This will be a year to remember. So now on the road. We actually left Watsonville, on Thurs., 6/20 and went to have a last dinner with the kids and grand kids in...

A much earlier start today….out onto I-80 at 9AM. Fuel in Wells, NV, then arrived at the KOA in West Wendover by 2…oops… we're now in Mountain Time…3 PM. Topper is doing really well and enjoying the trip, except for the nasty stickers in his feet that seem to be all over the desert.

Apr 5, 2013 - Amazingly Beautiful

Pulled out of Reno at 7:00 along with all the morning commuters , fortunately getting out of the park was a lot easier than getting in. I always think of the drive through Nevada as flat and barren with about the only vegetation being scrub brush but it is amazingly beautiful with snow capped mountains all around with some rugged canyons and summits to go over. We pulled into Angel Lake RV Park in Wells Nv. at 1:30 so after getting set up and having the last of Mary's cabbage rolls we went into town. Since our casino allowance is still on...

Nov 5, 2012 - Wild Horse Casino in Pendelton, Oregon to Wells, Nevada

Randy & I went into the casino for breakfast and both had eggs benny. It was really good. We had a nice morning, taking our time showering etc. I really feel like we're on vacation. The hills here in Pendleton are a golden colour and are stunning to see. Katie loved it so much in Pendleton that she didn't even want to come into the trailer. When we left the casino it was 9am. We started our drive with the climb up the large hill on Hwy 84 following it into Idaho to Twin Falls. Then we turned south on Hwy 93 and drove through Jackpot in...

Jul 30, 2012 - The drive to Wells,NV

We left Reno mid-morning and stopped for fuel before we left town. We decided as long as we were at the truck stop we’d have breakfast there too. We finally got on the road about 11am and had a 5 ½ hour drive ahead of us, plus time to take a few driving and dog breaks. Well, I’ve got say that this was the most boring 5 ½ hour drive we’ve ever taken. When there wasn’t a podunk little town we were passing through, there was scrub brush and some mountains on the horizon which we drove through once in a while. We kept passing signs saying...
