Sep 16, 2016 - Incline Village

We are enjoying our time exploring Lake Tahoe. This update covers the beautiful town of Incline Village in Nevada. Nestled along the northern shores of Lake Tahoe, Incline Village is a paradise for adventurers, offering exhilarating activities the whole year through. The surrounding Sierra Nevada thrives in winter, drawing flocks of snow-lovers to Diamond Peak’s groomed runs and glade skiing. Glade skiing is alpine skiing through trees off-trail or on a defined woods trail. Glades are variously sought for their solitude, beauty, or caches...

Apr 15, 2016 - Lake Tahoe and Truckee, CA

We found Lake Tahoe, in the Springtime, to be a spectacular place. We visited this special place four times while staying in the Reno area. Beautiful lake vistas, mountain drives and the tourists haven't arrived yet. We did find one ski resort still open in April and watched some skiers. South Lake Tahoe is family friendly and commercialized. We preferred Emerald Bay (on the lake's western side) and Incline Village (on the lake's northeastern side). Amid Incline Village's many lakeside palatial mansions, there is an inviting lakeside public...

Jan 21, 2013 - Incline Village and Lake Tahoe (day 2)

Day 8 (am temp 4 degrees) Incline Village and Lake Tahoe (day 2) The day began clear and cold. First time ever for me, that I can recall, being anywhere with a temperature this low. Apparently it was -1 the day before. Brrrrrr. Fortunately, with the clear skies, comes sunshine and a little heat a little later. As today was one of those annual milestones that none of us wants to think about – something about growing older – Garen and Lydia treated me to my first ever snowshoeing experience. From their house, we drove about 15 minutes to a...

Jan 20, 2013 - Catching up at Incline

Day 7 (am temp 21.4) Incline Village and Lake Tahoe Those of you who have driven the Santiam Pass in winter know how beautiful the scenery is, right? As I was heading towards Incline Village and Lake Tahoe today to pay a visit to Garen and Lydia, the drive out Hwy 50 towards Lake Tahoe reminded me a great deal of the Santiam through the mountains. Great scenery, river running alongside in spots, snow on and under the trees, icicles hanging down, gravelly roads, people in a hurry to get wherever it is they are going, blue skies, sun shining...

We had the amazing opportunity to attend Sara Kennedy and Brad Lamb's wedding on Mt. Rose, NV. It was an adventure that will never be forgotten. The minute we got to the wedding location on the top of Mt. Rose we stopped to take a couple pictures to remember the adventure we were beginning. Throughout the weekend we had a blast with some of our best friends: Amanda Edwards, Kevin Coleman, Hugh Benhardt, and Amber Scott! On Friday when we arrived we quickly got our rental car and began the drive to Mt. Rose from Reno airport where the...

Jun 5, 2010 - Lake Tahoe

Since the weather was perfectly beautiful we made Lake Tahoe our destination today. Again, the drive was lovely (I know I’m always saying that – but it was beautiful!) and we thoroughly enjoyed the clear crystal blue water of Lake Tahoe. It is so amazing how clear the lake is and how far down one can see when looking into the water. Parking for anything larger than a bicycle is at a premium around the lake but we were able to find some pullouts in which we could stop and enjoy the scenery. After a lovely day enjoying the lake we drove down...

Jun 5, 2009 - The North Shore of Lake Tahoe

Something bad has happened to the weather here. We have had some rain just about every day for the past week. That in itself is pretty unusual for this time of year. Today, however, the temperatures have dropped to the low 40s. At the lower elevations, there has been rain most of the day; at higher elevations there was snow. This afternoon, in Carson City, we have a pretty stout wind blowing. This has been a day of weather. Not wanting to sit around the home fires all day, we packed our lunch and got in the truck for a drive. Our wanderings...
