Oct 18, 2014 - Las Vegas, NV

Sat, 18 Oct: From wilderness to the Big City... Living our RV dream is often a study in contrasts. We awoke at Burro Creek campground, where we'd spent the nite boondocking in this scenic and remote area along US 93. This morning our greatest concern was watching out for rattlesnakes that tend to congregate near campsites as they attempt to warm up. We didn't see any (if we had, you'd have hears Sandi's scream!) We ended the day in Las Vegas, a really big city by our standards. They also have plenty of snakes here—but mostly of the...

Apr 28, 2014 - 4 Wheeling in Utah...

We're back from our week away and what a great time we had! Utah was beautiful, the scenery was fabulous & the weather co-operated the entire trip. We spent the first day exploring the local area and driving around the lake. Jim took us up numerous dirt roads to check out lovely views of the area. He & Brenda have been spending their summers up here for several years, camping in their motorhome. Last year they decided to sell their rig & purchase a trilevel cabin up on the ridge. They've explored all of this area, both by vehicle & on four...

Apr 21, 2014 - Happy Easter!

Well, once again, sorry to be so long in posting. I'll try to do better in the future. We're leaving in the morning for Utah, so I won't be posting again until this weekend. We're visiting our friends at their new cabin, and it is in a beautiful area up near Panguitch, so I should have a few nice pics to share. So for those of you that check faithfully each day, you won't need to check in again until Saturday. And by the way, we appreciate your readership. And your wonderful comments & suggestions! We hope you all had a beautiful Easter. We...

Apr 14, 2014 - Birthday Party...

I'm running a bit behind posting again, sorry about that. It's been a busy week, seems to stay that way! Last Monday, the 7th, was Lil Larry's 43rd birthday, and since we are in town (normally we're not), Larry & I wanted to do a 'special' birthday dinner for him. They have been very busy trying to get the remodeling done on their new home and Larry's 'real work' has been sporadic lately. He's currently working on the Tropicana Hotel, waiting for the next 'long term' job to kick in. Anyway, rather than all 11 of us going out to dinner...

Apr 8, 2014 - Back to Vegas...

Saturday was a beautiful day to travel as we made our way home from Ely. We traveled US Hwy 6 to Nevada 318 to I-15 to I-95. The snow capped mountains were lovely as were the puffy white clouds. I do love my clouds!!! We were amazed at the number of snowbirds we passed heading north. In case you don't know what a snowbird is, they are RV'ers who reside in the colder parts of the United States, and many Canadians as well, who head south to escape winter conditions each & every year. The most popular areas are Yuma, Casa Grande, Tuscon &...

Apr 5, 2014 - Mother-Daughter Time....

Well, it's been girl time with Mom the past couple of days. She got a new haircut & a much needed pedicure. Yesterday we had a nice lunch out (Chinese, no Larry, lol) a bit of shopping & then took a drive so I could take a few pics of the surrounding snowy mountains. It's cold today, 47 degrees but it's not too bad if you stay in the sun. Larry's been busy repairing Mom's kitchen countertop and staring at his I-Pad. Yep, he stares at it day & night, lol. Says it's the best gift he ever received. He did load our quad up yesterday, and while...

Apr 3, 2014 - Mom to Ely...

After arriving back in Vegas we had a few days of rest before packing a bag and heading to Mesquite to pick Mom up for her trip home. She had warned me in advance that she had accumulated a lot while out of town. Oh my goodness, her baggage was unbelievable! You might remember that I took her to California way back in December to visit sister Elaine & her family for a couple of months. Well, my truck was loaded pretty heavily then but it was nothing compared to this trip, lol! Of course Christmas and her birthday happened during that time...

Mar 28, 2014 - Travel day to Nevada...

Woke Thursday to more blowing winds. Uh oh, now what? After deliberating a bit we ultimately decided to just go for it. It's not so much our driving in the wind that bothers us, it's the other drivers! The 5'er tracks really well but tall vehicles like motorhomes & truckers seem to have a bit more issue when the winds are high. As evidenced by a terrible accident we encountered in the middle of nowhere. A semi apparently lost control on the narrow two lane road and hit a small pickup truck head on. The pickup was already loaded on a flatbed...

Feb 5, 2014 - A night out at Green Valley Ranch

Feb 5, 2014 - Today, we are dinner at GVR's Buffet. It was OK tonight, but not as good as most of the times we've been there. Afterwards, we played in the Senior Slot Tournament. We both sucked, but what the heck, it was free!

Nov 13, 2012 - A Long Visit in Henderson

We spent 11 days in Henderson, NV with John’s sister, Barbara. Marg took a side trip back to California for a Feldenkrais-related training while John continued to help Barb with some home tasks. All that house-fixing experience replacing towel bars and trimming trees at our Davis house came in handy. The short entry seems to be the only way I can figure out t get Henderson on the map!

Nov 3, 2012 - Dr. Hammergasen's Eclectic Home

Dr. Hammergasen opens his home for a tour once a year, he was NASA surgeon for the Astronauts during the Apollo and Early Shuttle programs. He has traveled all over the world and has collected a lot of memorabilia, Now to say they house is neat and tidy is totally wrong. Most of the house is crammed with all sorts of stuff, some very interesting and some was just "junk" to us. We really enjoyed the self guided tour. Dr. Hammergasen is very eccentric, he will be buried in his basement in an Iron Lung that is located in an Egyptican tomb. If...

Oct 25, 2012 - Sin or Salvation on I-15

Sin or Salvation on I-15 The stretch of Interstate Highway 15 between Utah and Nevada makes one of the weirdest connections on the planet - it connects Salt Lake City to Las Vegas. One city founded in religious fervor, and the other city exploiting every vice and excess known to man. You have to admit - it is kind of comical. You might expect commerce on such a highway to be fairly light - but there is a healthy flow of traffic (or maybe ‘steady’ would be a better word). Exiting Zion National Park, we picked up I-15 in St. George, Utah, and...
