Sep 8, 2011 - Peculiar - Strange Name for a Town

Next stop, Peculiar, Missouri...we thought that was a really strange name for a town. We had to fuel again and there was a Flying J very close to the campground. With the CAT full, we decided to have breakfast food at Denny's for supper and then we stopped at a little market to get a few groceries to tide us over until we hit a Wal-Mart. Arkansas tomorrow and we plan to stop there for two night to take a break from the road.

Jul 12, 2011 - I'm Going To Kansas City. (Peculiar)

We decided to get to Kansas City and headed out of Nebraska about 12pm. The trip was 317 miles SE and the drive was tuff because Hwy 29 was closed down. We had to take the old hwy 75 for over 100 miles. Lots of bumps and corn fields. There are few options in Kansas City for RV parks. We are about 30 miles outside of Kansas City in a town called Peculiar. Strange name and we are in the Peculiar RV Park. Nothing special. Gravel and dusty sites and it is blazing hot. It's 99 degrees here and very humid. Now Missy is short of breath and dizzy....

Sep 5, 2010 - Day 7

Went to Walmart and Target then into Peculiar so I could take photo of Peculiar Pharmacy and Peculiar watertower. It still makes me laugh! Stopped at truckstop on way back and recognized the loos from our journey on our way to reach the Pinnacle. Colin buys big, red, insulated mug for a huge cup of tea that will fit in the cup holder in the truck. We buy truckers' atlas so we can see low bridges - we're 13'6" tall but not all bridges are that high.

Sep 4, 2010 - Day 6

Wind advisory today but Rv not as affected as motor home would have been. Sirius radio is great - never lose the signal and can get BBC News and CNBC. Drove to Peculiar, Missouri. Stopped in rest area to eat lunch - discovered nowhere to sit inside FW except on stairs, kitchen floor or bed. Colin didn't want crumbs on his side of bed . Bungee cord holding chairs together is so tight we can't undo it unless slide is out. Passed by Peculiar Police, Peculiar Golf Club etc. - it really amused me! Campground - Peculiar Park Place - 60 sites - we...

May 29, 2009 - Peculiar, MO

Today, Friday, we were in line to be weighed at 8:00 a.m. That was easy & turned out pretty well with no major problems. We are a little over & need to do a little shifting of items in the basement, but overall we are in good shape. I (Patti) especially need to take a hard look at "my" stuff that I have stashed in the "basement" & our closet. It is so hard for me to part with my "treasures". Then we met with most of our Class of '07 friends at the local MacD's for breakfast. That was fun & gave us the opportunity to say "good-bye" until we...

Oct 5, 2007 - Peculiar MO

We are in Peculiar Park Place in Peculiar MO. We have stayed here many times because son Gary and his wife Susan live at Lees Summit MO and granddaughter Amanda and her husband Brad also live nearby. We have been getting together most evenings to enjoy a meal and play cards or games. Fulltiming means doing whatever suits you and it isn't always amusement parks and museums.
