Jun 27, 2011 - Saint Louis Science Center

It was a great day at the St. Louis Science Center with Trisha, Brady, Tanner, Myrna, Evelyn, Glen and myself. The main exhibition was "Gunther von Hagens' BODY WORLDS & THE BRAIN, which unravels the mystery of the mind and the secret world of the brain. Visitorys will view more than 200 authentic human specimens, all preserved through the process of plastination." We spent two hours in the display, which was not "gory" as expected. It was quite interesting and educational. We also watched the Omnimax presentation of "Tornado Alley",...

Hurray! Darin and Sarah, Ashlynn and Zade, and Trisha and Brady and Tanner arrived within five minutes of each other this afternoon. Trisha and boys will stay until Thursday morning; Darin, Sarah, and kids left after dinner as they have work hours tomorrow! It was great to have both kids and all grandkids here, even for a short time! We will all be together again in two weeks for another camping adventure! The remaining Hickeys...our family, Jeff, Myrna, Evelyn and Gary...all gathered in Gary/Evelyn's rig for some music. Brady brought his...

Jun 25, 2011 - Wow, we are busy!

We are having a grand time with the family. All six of the Hickey siblings have been together this week. Yesterday (Friday) Glen, Evelyn, Myrna, Marcella, Paul, and I loaded up the bikes and found the KATY Trail. For those non-Missourians, the KATY Trail is a state park that runs the width..east to west...of Missouri, a rails-to-trails state park. Converted railroad beds have been converted to a biking/walking trail that goes from St. Charles to Clinton, MO. Myrna has ridden the trail from west to east; and, Paul has ridden the entire trail...

Jun 23, 2011 - Cardinal...St. Louis, that is....Country

We kept Ashlynn and Zade company Wednesday night while the parents went to the St. Louis Cardinal game. Darin and Sarah didn't get to see the Cardinals win. However, tonight was our turn! And, we saw a winner, 12-2, against the Philadelphia Phillies. We joined Glen's three sisters and spouses at Babler State Park today. We will be here the next week. Another sister and husband are staying in a nearby hotel. The clan, 16 in number, attended the Cardinal ballgame. We enjoyed a wonderful bar-b-que dinner at "Jay Bucks Restaurant" prior to...

We headed north today and drove right into a pretty good thunderstorm - just what this rain saturated part of the country needs!! After skirting our way around St Louis we arrived at Babler State Park. We'll be staying here for the next 8 nights. For $17 a night we have a very large site with 50 amp hookup. No water or sewer at the site. Looks like I'll be using the public showers - YIKES!! Andy and Alicia (Kens son and granddaughter) will be arriving tomorrow (saturday). Ami and Alyssa (His daughter and other granddaughter) will be coming...

May 29, 2008 - Limited Sightseeing; Lots of Special Times

We are now at day thirteen of sixteen consecutive days in which we are playing musical grandkids, hosting one or more of them with us starting May 16. On Friday night, May 16, we drove into Franklin to attend granddaughter Joelle’s kindergarten graduation. We then brought 9-y/o grandson Micah back to the Phaeton to spend the night. We returned to Franklin the next day to attend Joelle’s first-year piano recital. In doing so, we swapped Micah for our youngest granddaughter, 3-y/o Isabel. This was Isabel’s first-ever overnight without any of...
