May 30, 2016 - One More Run

In downhill skiing, there's an important rule: "Never take one last run". If you think you have enough energy to ski down the mountain one more time, don't do it. That's when you're going to get hurt. My son did a complete overhaul on my "fat bike": new chain, new gear cartridge, etc. On Sunday he returned my bike ready for another season. I needed to take a test run to ensure that everything was working and properly adjusted. Since Sunday was the last full day of the Spring Spectacular at the campground, I decided to test my bike at...

May 1, 2016 - Reload

Spending two months at one campground gave me a chance to reset and reload. First, the campground was close to my Mom, one of my sisters, and my son. I visited with each of them several times. Since my first wife is deceased, my son renamed "mother's day" to "parent's day". He and his wife came to the campground to spend the day with me. We had a wonderful visit. Second, I was only a short drive from my storage unit in RI where I keep items that don't fit in my RV. I made several trips bringing boxes to my RV and sorting them. I kept a few...

Apr 5, 2016 - Spring Spectacular

When I was investigating campgrounds in New England, I came across a special, called "Spring Spectacular". The discount price was for two month’s stay, April 1 through May 30. As a result, I came north earlier than I had originally planned. The campground, Normandy Farms, is extremely nice. In fact, I think it's the best campground I've been to on this entire trip! I arrived here on opening day, April 1st. In hindsight, it seems appropriate that it was April Fool’s Day. What a disaster! When I arrived, the staff warned me that they might...

The Wandering Nunns

Sep 19, 2012 - Patriot Place, Foxboro, MA

Patriot Place is located in Foxboro, MA, about six miles from the Normandy Farms Campground. It is a shopping area and the location of Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots professional football team. We rode a shuttle bus to Patriot Place. First, we walked down to a nature trail and to a cranberry bog. Unfortunately, this is not the right time of year to see the cranberries...they've already been harvested. Signs around the bog explained that there are two types of harvesting, dry and with water. I was unaware of the dry...

Jun 13, 2011 - Normady Farms at Foxborough

We left Cape Cod behind and traveled 90 miles to a campground closer to Boston. This campground is huge, with 3 swimming pools and all the other play areas. We are next door to laundry so will get some clean clothes. We are planning on 2 trips into Boston but need to schedule between rain showers. Have to watch the Bruins on TV tonight just because we are here... Bill He says that like being close to the laundry just magically gets you clean clothes. (<:

The bus is in Foxboro, MA parked at Normandy Farms RV Park ========================================================================= Drivers Log: 205 miles this leg, 7077 miles total. How we got here -- See Google Map "Drive to Foxborough, MA" Stamps this leg 5, 22 stamps total ========================================================================= The drive down to Foxborough was easy, at least for me.
