we spent two weeks in Conway, AR assisting a family whose home was destroyed by toronado's and they were lucky to have not had any body damage: the story they were getting ready to go to church on a Sunday night and their oldest of 5-- age 16 had said she was staying at home and as they were about to leave changed her mind and went to church with them while they were in church their home was totally destroyed by a toronado and all was lost. they were able to get a used mobil home and some land and then built the outside of a large addition...

Sep 6, 2015 - MN family reunion and beyond

What a fun filled weekend after the 975 mile trip from TX to MN that was very uneventful. Had a great time visiting with family and friends. we also celebrated our 50th anniversary with our MN family what a good group surprised us that so many remembered us after being gone for 35 years. we traveled through Illinois on our way home to see friends that have been with us for sometime as we did mission work in Mexico with them. the weather was unbelievably hot for the north. May 10, 2015 - Conway AR disaster relief

We left home on Sunday May 3rd and drove to Conway Arkansas to work in the disaster relief area where the toronado went through a couple of years ago. We had beautiful weather getting there and most of the week it did rain but not enough to get concerned about. When we got there the habitat home we were going to work on was only framed in, sided and roof and windows and doors in place. With piles of sheet rock to be put on, tapped and mudded. Oct 19, 2014 - Lake Junaluska and beyond

we had spent a week working cleaning in the large auditorium, vacuuming, cleaning cobwebs out of the ceiling and cleaning walls and seats. we were enjoying an evening of playing cards when we got a call that no parent wants to receive that their child has passed away. we left within the hour to be with our daughter in law in Charlotte, NC 2 hours away. Our son Michael had passed away in his sleep sometime after his wife had left for work leaving a 14 month old in the crib for 18 hours without changing, eating or drinking. Our son had had a...

We just finished a Nomad project with 4 other couples at Northern Pines Camp ground at Park Rapids, MN what a great three weeks. First weekend was my 50th class reunion in West Concord, MN my sister Joann Petersen went to the reunion with me what a great time seeing some of my class mates that I had not seen in 45 or 50 years. One of my class mates Forrest Matti along with Muriel Loquai French and I started first grade together at district 3 Kutzler school and graduated together what a great accomplishment. Oct 9, 2014 - 3rd leg of our travels

down the road to Lake Junaluska, NC well going around Chicago from Park Rapids, MN. there was one lane traffic, road constructions, pot holes stop and start traffic so slow you could almost take a nap between stopping and starting. we arrived at Lake Junaluska, NC to find we made a wrong turn and we were to heavy to go across the one lane bridge so we unhooked the car and was about to back up when the police ( campus) showed up and gave us an escort to the camp grounds. Sep 20, 2014 - Branson Missouri and beyond

what a fun time with the Nomads at the national convention in Branson what great fun visiting and talking to some we have not seen since 2000 catching up on the projects that they have been on and the things they have done. up at 7 am for devotions and prayer to breakfast and then to singing and worship then there were seminars, auctions of which 57,000 dollars yes you read right was raised to help others. we got a chance to go on a bus trip to the Crownthorn chapel it was beautiful out in the woods and the sound was so great in there one...

Jul 19, 2014 - UMCOR Balwin, LA July 13-18

We spent the week of July 13-18 in Balwin LA working at UMCOR and having fun meeting others there to do the same thing ages 13-80 what a group of fun loving people. We stayed at the complex and ate wonderful prepared meals for us. Always too much at any given meal. We sorted and folded 40,000 towels and over 5,000 health kits were gone through to make sure the contents were complete and then boxed for shipment to wherever it will be needed next. Feb 14, 2014 - the end of three wonderful weeks

We have hammered, sawed, put in new windows, cleaned carpet, cupboards, tables, chairs fixed ceilings, chairs, sky lights, sprinkler systems, made two new doors and painted the scout shed. Handicap signs are installed and cemented in. We have prayed together, studied the Bible together, ate and ate until we were stuffed, communicated with the students and had lunch with them. We now are going to say our good bye's on the Valentine Day and go our separate ways until we meet again. For Marvin and me we are going to spend 3 more days in Mesa...

Feb 9, 2014 - Epworth UMC, Phoenix Arizona

well we have arrived and worked 2 weeks now at sprucing up, painting, power washing, repairing, making a cry room, installing counters, cleaning closets and gutters. we are working with a team of 12 Nomads there are 6 big rigs in a semi circle with our doors together so we have a patio to sit in late in the evenings and weekends when we are not working. we have done multiple things to help the church and school here at the church. Jan 25, 2014 - Epworth UMC, Phoenix Arizona

We left home on Thursday the 23rd for a leasure trip to Phoenix. Everything went great the first day except for the wind that kept trying to put us in the other lane of traffic. We spent the night in Monahan,TX. On Friday early in the morning before the sun was up down the road we went and got as far as Fort Hancock along interstate 10 and it all ended we had a broken fan belt and had to call for assistance. Dec 7, 2013 - North Carolina and back and inbetween

We left home taking the north route through Memphis, Nashville and on to Junealaska, NC where we stopped and visited the Methodist campus where we are planning on working this fall. then over the rest of the mountains to our son Michael's in Charlotte, NC.
