Jun 4, 2018 - Now THAT is what you call a Thunderstorm!!!!!

Whoa!! I need my hands to tell this story! It was REALLY frightening! We left off last night all safe and cozy, having had a great meal, hanging out inside to make sure i could get the WiFi (at the Lodge they call it ,WhyTry' ). . . And off we went tot he tent to read and relax in our sleeping bags. Most of the bicycling teams that showed up were doing the same. There was a small chance of rain this evening, there usually is I think, the thunderboomers come and go sometimes missing you! I think we actually fell asleep only to be woken up...

Jun 3, 2018 - Rocks, Road and River . . . .68 Beautiful miles

What a freakin' amazing day! I went to bed not feeling so hot, had a horrible night of not sleep! Sore throat, couldn't breathe! Yuck! Finally dozed off at least long enough for the alarm to wake me up! Quick pack up and breakfast and we were off! Our goal is to get across the 66 miles of no services, but we have an escape plan in the event the climb is tough and we bail! The road could not have been more beautiful!!! We were on the Lochsa River for the night and we followed that mighty river for 67 miles!! It was spectacular! Perfect...

May 18, 2017 - Day 19 - Grangeville to Near Powell Junction

Today’s ride was a LONG, mostly uphill 102-mile ride with 3,110’ of ascent. After leaving town, the route followed country back-roads with beautiful rolling hills through hundreds of acres of bright yellow mustard fields. Even though it was a dark morning, the fields were brilliant. At about mile 15, I came upon a family of wild turkeys. Before I got my camera ready, they were so far away that the best I could get was a blurry photo. Just past mile 15, I arrived at the Lazy M Ranch where I took another photo.
