Mar 21, 2020 - Pocatello, ID

Traveled I-15 into Pocatello, ID. We came through Salt Lake City, still under construction on their freeways but could see no evidence of the 5.7 earthquake that hit that area about 5 days before. Still heavy traffic through this area and once again glad to be through there. Snow had been predicted on and off throughout our journey since Winslow, but we have had no trouble on the roadways. De-icer put down in several areas which has just created a royal mess on our rig and truck, but that's all we have to complain about. We are here for a...

Fall 2019

Sep 3, 2019 - Pocatello, Idaho

Headed into Pocatello, ID to Boats and RV's For Less to have some repair work done on our Fifth Wheel. What we were hoping would take a day ended up taking two days. Ryan Smith invited us to stay at his home for the night as the RV was not done so we did. Enjoyable dinner and evening with he, his friend Danny and his son Tyler. Unfortunately his wife, Robyn, was out of town. After discovering our RV wouldn't be done until late the next day, he offered to take us on his jet boat on the Snake River. We had a great time on a hot day traveling...

Fall 2019

Jul 30, 2019 - Pocatello ID

I wish I had something thrilling to report about our last full week in the wilds of northern Utah, but alas, I got nothin’...or at least not much. The best news is that my travel-mate has returned from the heat and humidity of Florida to the heat and less humidity of Utah. Her flight got in about an hour late and after waiting for her luggage and the just over an hour drive from SLC, we got home a bit after midnight and things are now somewhat back to normal. On Thursday the 25th we did a jaunt down to Ogden for a little date night culture....

/// August 17, 2018 A Travel Day: We were packed up and ready to hit the road by 9:00 A.M> Our route today would take us south, over Raynolds Pass into Idaho at the corner of Yellowstone NP. The road conditions were good, traffic was light and the weather was mild. We could see the boundaries of one of the local wild fires. Once we hit the Jct of Hwy 20, the main route for traffic headed west out of Yellowstone the traffic really picked up. At one point I pulled out of a long line of traffic to take a break. Many impatient drivers were...

Aug 10, 2018 - Museum of Clean

Pocatello, ID Jim has a list of North American animals he wants to see in the wild. Except for a rattlesnake and a wolverine, we have been successful. Idaho Zoo is 1 of only 2 zoos devoted entirely to North American animals. We did a quick run-through to make sure we were not overlooking any animals on our list. We were not. That left us free to spend the rest of the day at The World Famous Museum of Clean. This 74,000 square-foot, 3-floor museum is amazing. Most amazing of all is that we had a personal tour from the founder himself. There...

Aug 9, 2018 - Snake River

Pocatello, ID Boise to Pocatello is a pretty straight shot for most but, naturally, we made a few stops. Artist Randy Miller spent over 2 years planning and painstakingly gluing over 430 lbs of spare change -- mostly pennies -- to create a 300-square-foot mural. A "Wishing Wall" beneath the mural encourages visitors to affix their own pennies. A tourist tip says you can use craft glue or chewing gum to add your own pennies. It takes a few tries to figure out just the right amount of glue; too much and it slides down the wall, too little and...

Sep 8, 2016 - Day 74 Pocatello, ID

Day 74 Cowboy RV Park. This is a mobile home and RV park. The areas are separate and quite nice. Asphalt sites with trees, which do not obstruct getting in site. Reviews on this park were negative, but it was the only one I could contact. But I think it's just fine. Very!! windy driving down today, but it was a short day. Took a walk thru a cemetery which is across the street. Huge with really big old trees. The oldest plot we saw was from 1875, but we didn't go all the way back. On to SLC tomorrow and then home.

Alaska...Again 2016

Aug 23, 2016 - Goodbye Colorado, Hello Idaho

We are now in Pocatello, Idaho after nearly six weeks of traveling through Colorado. Our last stop in Colorado was the high-desert city of Grand Junction. Although it isn’t really a big tourist destination, there was plenty to keep us busy. It is a gateway to the Colorado National Monument which is a small area with spectacular eroded rock formations, pinnacles and canyons. We were able to squeeze in two short hikes in the morning before it got too hot. At night, we attended an interesting outdoor concert at the monument that weaved music...

Apr 4, 2016 - End of Spring Break

From Driveway in Pocatello We left Las Vegas Saturday. What a week we had! The kids had a blast and we had so much fun watching them enjoying everything. Thursday we went to the Chris Angel magic show. Nahaniel loves magic and so does Eli. Both boys were glued to the stage. The music was loud but the tricks he did were incredible. Friday we went to Circus Circus. They went to the Advenuredome first which is an indoor theme park. There are 3 roller coasters and a couple of dozen other rides. They did bungie jumping and rock climbing and a...

Oct 19, 2015 - Pocatello, ID

Off on Hwy 30 to Pocatello to Park-A-Way RV for a few maintenance items to be done on our RV and to visit with Ryan Smith. All maintenance work got done on the RV. We developed what we thought was a tire problem on our way into Pocatello. After all was said and done and two nights stay at Buffalo Meadows RV Park, Ft. Hall, it was discovered that we had a broken wheel. We had to purchase a wheel from Les Schwab and then were able to get on our way home. One very nice thing that happened to us this time visiting Ryan, we got to meet his wife,...
