Sep 01, 2012 Old Mission State Park Today we drove out to Coeur d’ Alene’s Old Mission State Park where we visited the museum, Mission of the Sacred Heart and the Parish House. Between 1850-1853, led by Father Pierre-Jean DeSmet, the Coeur d’ Alene tribe and Jesuit missionaries built the Mission of the Sacred Heart on a grassy hill above the Coeur d’ Alene River near Cataldo.
