Idaho potatoes we have all heard of but how many of us knew how beautiful this state is? Holy moly, if you like mountain scenery then you need to head to Idaho. The views have been outstanding! Yesterday was a basic travel day with a stop at a fish hatchery which was very interesting. For lunch we pulled into a museum in Stanley,ID and used their picnic table before taking the tour. Oct 16, 2008 - Ponderosa Pines Scenic Byway

We travelled out of Boise into the mountains along the Ponderosa Scenic Parkway. Our journey took us pass the Arrowrock Reservoir in the Boise Mountains. The reservoir sits in a deep canyon. We then explored the small town of Idaho City with a history of gold mining. It was like walking back in time and people still live in the town. Was this “small town America”? We then returned to Boise through the mountains with spectacular views into deep river valleys.
