Mar 3, 2020 - with the hot polloi

Every so often we find ourselves driving through Winter Park, a town of 30,000 people just north of Orlando. The Costco and Trader Joe's are there. Today we drove through on our way to the Apple store to pick up a repaired laptop. Every time we are in the area for retail activities, we get the sense that there is more there than has met our eye. Today we finally went to the confluence of three lakes formed by fresh water springs and saw where it all began in 1858. While Orlando came into being as a military town, Winter Park was founded by...

Mar 6, 2013 - Winter Park

Another cloudless sky with a cool morning. We set out to visit Winter Park. Originally this was a small town but now it is a suburb on the outskirts of north Orlando. It is a lovely town with tree lined streets and upmarket shops. There is a beautiful park in the centre which has the railroad running along side it and level crossings at every road junction. Situated near the park is the Morse Museum. This museum is dedicated almost totally to the life and work of Louis Tiffany. It is a fabulous place. We were amazed by the diversity which...

Happy Father's Day to all you guys. It was a lovely day in Florida--low to mid-80s, cool showers off and on, breezy...Florida beautiful skies. We had a nice back road trip via Osteen and Oviedo to Winter Park for lunch at Faun/Tony's. Nice enough to eat on the porch and enjoy a cool breeze. Kids headed for the water in spite of raindrops. Oh, to have the energy of kids! Another mini-trip on our summer vacation. If we can't do a big one, we'll take it in small doses!

Also included is the chapel he designed for the 1893 world's fair in Chicago. The museum has also replicated some of Tiffany's Long Island estate, Laurelton Hall, with almost 100...

Disney World Trip

Jan 30, 2007 - January 2007 Highlights - Play Helps in St. Bernard, Louisianna; National Atomic Museum, Las Vegas

Greetings from Winter Park, FL, If it's February, it must be crunch time. At least, that's the way it turned out this year, when our schedule shifted from its usual pattern, and we ended up opening two new productions at the beginning of the year, instead of in May, as we normally do (if there's anything really normal about theatre). We premiered our multicultural folktale production, "Quizzical Quests" in January in Las Vegas--where we attended a performance by Penn and Teller, and where Zephyr took a backstage tour at "Star Trek: the...
