Mar 7, 2013 - Umatilla, FL - 1

We arrived in Umatilla yesterday. We are at the Olde Mill Stream RV Resort. It's a large park. Brad's not too happy that we are parked on grass and can't use our jacks without putting boards under them. We are nearly level so decided not to use the jacks and just hoping that it doesn't rain too much while we are here (none predicted). Our stay in Seffner was a busy one. We were on the go every day. On Sunday we went over to Zephyrhills and had a nice visit with Merle & Audrey Dinse. They are friends from church in South Windsor and spend...

2013 - Florida

Jan 21, 2013 - More pictures of the weekend events

I received a few more pictures that Debbie took at our weekend events. A big thank you to her for great pics. We are starting a cool morning with 67. I would like to ask for three prayer requests this morning. One is for our brother-in-law,Jerry who lives in St. Augustine who is having a knee replacement today, one is for a neighbor in our park, Linda, who is also having a knee replacement-Feb.3rd, and the third for a very dear Cedarville friend who lives in Iowa, Jack, who has lots of medical problems and right now at Mayo Clinic. Thanks to...

Jan 20, 2013 - Back down in sunny Florida (hot at first, then cooled down)

Well, we did make it down to Umatilla on New Year's day. It was touch and go whether we would even make it because of health problems for both Don and I. I would say that right now we are kind of limping along. I won't go into details, but we are both as stable as the Good Lord will allow us right now. We do enjoy seeing all of our newly made friends who were already here, and old friends that we see in the summer and winter. Piper is also out of sorts. I think it is the long traveling in the truck and the fact that in our campground she...

Apr 10, 2012 - Back Home in Indiana

As we passed over the Henderson bridge into Indiana once again we sang our traditional rendition of Back Home in Indiana, and it was in full bloom with green grass and flowers. We usually don't see this coming home from Florida the end of March. We spent one night in Evansville for a visit with my daughter's family and Don's mom in the nursing home, then arrived in our driveway Wednesday, the 28th. I wish we could say the trip was uneventful, but it wasn't. In Tennessee on I-24 I caught a reflection of something metal flying off our trailer...

Mar 17, 2012 - Breakfast Buffet on the lawn with friends and neighbors!

This will be my last journal here from Florida. We are slowly getting things packed up, and hopefully if the weather going North towards Indiana is free of storms, we'll start out the middle of the week. There are some pretty nasty weather patterns between here and Indiana. This morning we had a breakfast buffet on the lawn near Bill and Diana's camper. Everyone pitched in with some really good food. We had quite a variety, with waffles, french toast casserole, egg-cheese-sausage casserole, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, coffee and orange...

Mar 14, 2012 - Going Home is getting too close!

Going home is getting close. We will be heading out on the 24th of March and hopefully into Evansville for one night on the 26th. Yesterday, Don, Piper, and I took the boat out on Lake Eustis and boated up Haines Creek, then back out on Lake Eustis and up one of our favorites, The Dora Canal. It was a great day for boating, sun shining and a slight cool breeze. Our trip was embellished with seeing some little steamboats. The boats were towed here to the Harris Chain of Lakes Steamboat Meet from different states, some coming as far away as...

Mar 8, 2012 - Lots of activities coming up!

We are having a fully packed week of activities. Tuesday, John, Judy, Don, and I took the boat up to Ocala and boated up the Silver River to Silver Springs State Park which is noted for it’s glass bottom boats. Funny thing, the boats looked exactly like the boats Don took with his family when he was in grade school. We also looked for a particular tree along the shore that we thought was near the water’s edge. Don had his picture taken under that tree, and much later in life, we had our picture taken with our children under that tree. We...

Feb 28, 2012 - Just an update

We can't believe it is the last of February. Time is going fast. I apologize to all my followers that there hasn't been much documentation of our stay this year. Two things, we really haven't done or seen much more than we have seen in the last few years, and second, we have had our share of health issues. I spent 3 days in the hospital starting a week ago last Sunday with two days of migraine pain, nausea, and vomiting. Since I have been back here, I haven't had anymore headaches. It was probably the worse episode and length of pain I have...

Feb 8, 2012 - Boat Ride with my sister and brother-in-law

Yesterday my sister and brother-in-law, Karla and Jerry who live in St. Augustine met us for breakfast at the Umatilla Inn and Restaurant, then came over to our trailer to wait until it warmed up for a boat ride. After a successful launching, we boated through the Dora Canal, out to Lake Eustis, up the Dead River out to Lake Harris, then back to our favorite restaurant on the Dead River. We had a really good late lunch of catfish fingers, a patty melt , fries, onion rings, a chili dog, and a BLT hot dog accompanied with lots and lots of...

Feb 6, 2012 - Travel Journal Update

I haven’t posted much lately, so this is our travel journal update. We continue to enjoy this really warm weather down here, at times, almost too warm. We like it more in the 70s, but we’ll not complain too much. We think it is one of the warmest Januarys we have seen in a long time. We continue to meet new people, and really like our neighborhood of friends. Our fleet of boats has increased. We purchased a 17ft. Proline center console used boat in immaculate condition. It is a 1988, but looks a lot newer. We intend to leave it down here in...

Jan 24, 2012 - Life in Umatilla

Florida is warm and sunny, 83 degrees today. Since my last posting, we have visited my sister and her family in St. Augustine and enjoyed staying at my niece's new house only a few blocks from the ocean. Also, my sister's and brother-in-law's best friends, Phil and Dinah Catey were visiting them at the same time, so we really had a good time visiting with everyone. One day we went to the Tampa RV show, and yesterday we went boating on the Dora Canal with John and Judy. We were in our Zodiac dingy with motor, and they were on their Sea-doo....

Jan 4, 2012 - Back in our Winter Home

Happy New Year to all. We are starting our New Year back down in Umatilla, Florida at the Olde Mill Stream RV Park. We left Indiana Dec. 28 from Evansville where we spent Christmas with our daughter and her family. Our good friends John and Judy had left Michigan the evening before heading South. We met up in Nashville and stayed in a very nice campground near Opryland Hotel. That evening, we ate at the Spaghetti Factory in downtown Nashville. We have got to come back to Nashville to just explore the downtown area. Don & I left the next...
