Feb 11, 2011 - Fishing in Treasure Island, Fl

After our victory party last night (the one where we assumed we were going to catch a lot of fish) we kind of just wanted to sleep in this morning. Seeing as we already paid for Deep Sea Fishing, we were forced to jump out of bed and drive down to John’s Pass. Turkey went and stood in line to finalize our reservation, and Rob, Lorraine & Patti rested on a bench outside. (see pics) LOL. Yes, and then we rested on the boat, waiting to arrive at the fishing hole. Today had to be the coldest day since we arrived in Florida. +13 C and cloudy. As...

Feb 10, 2011 - Treasure Island, Fl

Okay, so today we woke up to pouring rain again. Damn! Oh well, better than snow, right? We decided to take a drive around Gulf Blvd, both North and South. We made it as far north as Belleair Beach, and then down to St. Pete’s Beach. This is absolutely beautiful country. The sun finally popped out at mid afternoon, and so we stopped at the Oceanside Bar & Grill for happy hour. The waitress there was super. We threw a few jokes her way, and she was actually able to take our Canadian humour. Back to our condo, and Turkey and Patti’s turn to...

Up early and pack up the bikes. Time to tuck them away into a little storage container in Tampa for the rest of February. Rob and Lorraine jumped in their rental car and picked us up at Tampa. A short stop at Chili’s for lunch, and then back on the road to Treasure Island. The Super Bowl was today, and every which way you look there was a Super Bowl Party. We walked down the beach a mile, and stopped in at Ricky T’s for the game and supper. We had a great time.

What a way to wake up………to the sounds of the waves crashing on the beach. +21 C. Yes, that is what we woke up to. A quick cup of coffee or two, and off to the Wagon Wheel Flea Market we went. We picked up loads of fresh fruit and vegetables. After the flea market we made Rob tour us around the local area, scouting out a good place to celebrate the Super Bowl. It’s unanimous, we are all cheering for the Green Bay Packers. Cheese Heads!!! LOL ……….now to find a Super Bowl Host. Well, wouldn’t you know it, we came across a Hooters, not a half...

Up and at em! We woke up at 6 am and looked on the weather channel……..and it wasn’t good! +2 C and rain/sleet for New Orleans, Slidell, Mobile, Ab, Pensacola, Fl. Geez, give us a break already. Well, we waited until 7 am, and decided to try and make our way towards Florida. We figured if we ran into really bad weather, we could just pull over and get a hotel room. After 4 hours of slow riding, the temperature picked up from +3 to +10 at Pensacola, but with heavy fog. Good God! The fog was making us wetter than the rain was. We trudged...

Feb 26, 2009 - Golf, Treasure Island & Fort Desoto

Hi Everyone, Playing golf has added a lot of fun to our trip. When we were in Ocala we played a beautiful new course at Stone Creek. This is the course that is on the property that our friends George & Donna Motsis just bought their new home. We enjoyed the course, as well as the dinner we had in the Club House. I'm sure that they will enjoy many winters of fun in the Florida sun, as we did. While we were in Hudson, Jack played golf with Tom Hielscher, (a former neighbor, and good friend of ours, who moved to Florida) He also lives on a...
