Oct 22, 2016 - Food And More Food

The Florida Finders Fest is a Geocaching event over the weekend. This event is to bring people out in the woods to go Geocaching at night , to eat free food for the three days and to get to see old friends and make new friends. Meats are provided and all we have to do is bring a side dish and of course we have all kinds of events during the day and night. Like poker runs during the day and a aluminum hat contest at night in the deep dark woods. Welcome to the deep , dark depths of the Ocala National Forest , a place fraught with dangers ,...

Oct 19, 2016 - Walking In The Woods

Just down the street from the state park is a preserve with miles of trails and about fifty geocaches in those woods. We like walking on trails and at the same time we can look for containers that were put out in the woods for this event. We had fun walking in the woods and after the walk we got to go to "HOT DOG NIGHT " for some free food before our campfire at the end of the day.

Oct 17, 2016 - Silver Springs State Park

We spent one night camping at the "RANCH" before heading up to Silver Springs State Park for a few days. We like camping in Florida State Parks because I can get 1/2 price for camping when you are a" senior old fart like me". The state of Florida has a camp ground and you get a pass when camping to visit the springs for free. So we went over to the springs to rent out a kayak to paddle around the waterways from the past. Years ago they had a boat trip that you could take to see old Fort King and some buildings from the old days of Florida....

We like to drive on the back road of Florida when we vacation in florida. We drove north on U.S. 27 to get in a huge traffic jam for hours, so we stopped over at a place to eat and let the traffic go on down the road. We did make it to our campground in Silver Springs.

Mar 18, 2014 - Silver Spring (Glass Bottom Boat)

Today we will head over to Silver Spings, FL to see the Glass Bottom Boat. We did this when we got married in 1974 but have not been back since. So we want to check it out. Well that is the ONLY thing there now. No more animals, water park, nothing just the boat. It was a little disappointing but we had a good day. The sun came out which make it better for the glass bottom boat ride. There was a short trail we walked before heading back to Saint Augustine.
