Feb 18, 2016 - Summit Stainless

Earlier in January we drove the Eagle to Deland to get a new inverter installed by M&M Electronics and vent covers from Trees to These. As we cranked up to leave, the parking brake indicator would not stop and Ray drove the Eagle home to that beep going constantly. M&M came to the house the next day and diagnosed the inverter issue and worked on the brake, couldn't fix it. Another day Ray flew them over to work on it more. Still no resolution. We drove the Eagle over to Deland again and after a few days Mark Bayus was able to fix the...

Oct 6, 2015 - Sebastian Inlet, Florida

We set out across Florida in a search for a nice Atlantic Beach and fishing pier. Broward County has three County-run parks with excellent facilities in the area. Long Point Park is one of those facilities, and we were able to snag a spot for a few days in this high-demand park. It's a gorgeous, grassy field surrounding a marshy pond, which they call a bird sanctuary. The campground is inhabited by a small flock (?) of wood storks. The first thing we noticed as we pulled in was the,er, smell of sulphur in the water and the surrounding...

Feb 28, 2015 - Bushnell, FL

Now it's back towards the west and another favorite, Red Oaks Campground in Bushnell. It's 168 miles West on FL-60, then North on US-98 and US-301, then turn West on CR-48 to the campground. Red Oaks is part of the Carefree chain. Bushnell is another rural spot away from most of the tourist crowd altho we are right beside I-75. Beef O'Brady's is only a mile away and WalMart and Kentucky Fried Chicken are right across the street. Who could ask for more. With Passport America, we paid $17 a night for 14 of our 19 nights here. Florida in...

Feb 17, 2015 - Sebastian, FL

Once again, the larger crowd this year affects our plans. We planned to return to Road Runner RV Park in Fort Pierce, FL. This is a very nice spot with plenty of activities and close to the beaches on the Indian River and the Atlantic. Unfortunately, there was "no room at the inn". So we located Whispering Palms Resort in Sebastian. This was a little further North but located right on US-1. We took FL-70 to I-95 North to Fort Pierce, topped off our tanks at the Flying J there and headed up US-1. Once again, we found prime sites. These were...

Nov 17, 2010 - Wednesday in Sebastian FL

Working my way up north on the east coast, I stopped for lunch with Andrea and Bob Brunelle. Since they were working on their new house, we took a short break at Wendy's and went back to the house so I could enjoy all of their antique stoves. Bob and Andrea formerly sold old stoves and kayaks in Wales, Massachusetts. They are on their way to the Boquete area of Panama where they've built a house. I met them there 3 years ago and watched the progress of their two new homes in Sebastian FL and Potrerillos Panama.

Nov 17, 2008 - Sebastian Inlet, FL - Cape Canaveral

Tuesday went to NASA's Kennedy Space Center - Visitor's Center. It was great fun and very informative. It's really geared to educate and inform kids in an entertaining way. No doubt they make it entertaining - DisneyWorld is only 50 miles away! Competition! We listed to a real astronaut - John McBride who flew (I think) around 3 space shuttle missions. It was very interesting listening to stories about his career. It sure takes great ambition to be an astronaut! We got to ask him a few questions and took a picture with him and Thomas and...
