In the morning Sally tried to walk but it was too cold from the temperature and wind so she soon returned. We went to McDonald's and each had a coffee while I posted to the blog. Later we went to Walmart. To shop. We went to the Point and casted small spoons for 40 minutes or so into a strong wind. We caught nothing. So we returned to the RV and packed for the trip to Grayton Beach tomorrow.

Florida 2017

Mar 15, 2017 - March 13th

Today was a terrible day weather wise. It rained all day. It also was very chilly. In the evening it did stop raining but was very cloudy and chilly so didn't go fishing. We did go to a library to do this blog. Don and Andrea left today, a little ahead of their planned time. While we were out and about we stopped in a Loews store. We asked a Loews worker fort the location of the part we were looking for and soon a conversation was started. First we learned he was a navy veteran of 20 some years, and where he had been stationed. then we...

Florida 2017

Mar 15, 2017 - March 14th.

Sally took her morning walk today. After she returned we went to a fishing spot called the jetty. There were quiet a few fishermen there even though it has quite a reputation for losing tackle there. We didn't see anyone catching anything so we decided to go look for a supplement store and look for some vitamins. Sally wanted to see something so we headed on the road for Destin. We thought we would find a GNC or something soon, but we went 50 miles before finding one. It was called The Vitamin Shop. We found what we wanted and headed back...

Mar 13, 2017 - March 12 th

Today Sally went to church with Andrea. I drank coffee and watched TV. Then we then wasted several hours sitting at the RV. It is chilly here and we both are unmotivated. Later in the day I went fishing at the point and Sally went walking. I had 1 strike in 1 and 1/2 hours. Sally saw a deer on her walk that was only 20 feet away, she was able to get several pics of it with her phone. When we got through we came back to the camper and got ready to go out for supper. We decided on a Chinese buffet. It advertised over 300 items. I didn't...

Mar 12, 2017 - March 11th

Again Sally and Andrea walked in the morning and I got to watch TV, drink coffee, eat breakfast, and play solitaire on the computer. We went fishing at the Point. We fished for 30 minutes or so without a strike and no one else catching one so we quit. We had missed the Mackerel run by about 4 hours. We went to Wall-Mart in the afternoon to get a couple of small spoons for Mackerel. Of course we found some other things to buy. In the evening we started a fire and Don and Andrea came down and we chatted, had a drink, some chocolate and...

Florida 2017

Mar 12, 2017 - March 10th

In the morning Sally walked with Andrea. I went fishing at the Point. The Point is about a 3/4 mile walk from the parking lot. Sally dropped me and the truck off and went with Andrea to Joann Fabrics and Doller General. I fished the whole way to the point catching one Spanish Mackerel. In the evening we went to Don and Andrea's for a visit. While there we meet a couple, Honest Abe who is from St. Petersburg Russia and Ursula is from Poland. they both managed to get out of the then Soviet Union and come to Canada. Then they came to the US,...

Florida 2017

Mar 12, 2017 - March 9th

Today we moved to Saint Andrews State Park near Panama City. The trip was about 60 miles and was uneventful. After we sat up camp we knew that Andera and Don were there so we took a walk down to their campsite, they are friends from South Bay. in the evening I fished behind the RV. It seemed very shallow. I think the only strikes I had were from what is called Grunts. A small fish that makes a noise when you catch it.

Mar 20, 2014 - March 17th

Last full day at St. Andrews. We c It is beginning to dry out. Still need boots to get in and out of the RV without getting your feet wet. Sally has been wearing boots, I've been getting my feet wet. We tried to fish from the jetty today but the current was very strong. Sally had a 3 oz. pyramid sinker and within 1 f3w minutes it had washed into the rocks and gotten stuck so we needed to break the line and climb back off the rocks and find another place to fish. We moved down the beach to the fishing pier. We fished from the fishing pier...

We were able to get in our exercise this morning but then it started to rain, and rain and rain. It rained all day long and well into the night. We were able to get the fishing reel repaired. I'm happy with that. We spent most of the day watching TV waiting for the rain to stop which it never did. So, towards evening we went to the Golden Corral for dinner. We both really enjoyed it. We had to wade the pond around our campsite to get to the car. I just jumped as quick as I could through it, Sally was smarter and she had boots on and waded...

It is Spring Break time and many students come to Panama City Beach and Saint Andrews State Park is right next to that beach. We were thinking there would possibly be many young folks at the campsite that would be parting late into the night but so far We haven't heard any in the evening. There are many students in the town though. We have been exercising in the mornings, Sally bikes and I jog. Today we looked at the beach and the fishing pier. We also tried to find a geocache but couldn't find it. We did go into town to a tackle store...

Today was a travel day. We went about 70 miles from Saint Joseph Peninsula, to Saint Andrews State Park. We were on the road about 3 hrs. The trip was uneventful, and we were on 2 lane highway most of the way, traveling through many small coastal towns. After arriving and setting up camp we found that the site was too rough for us to get the RV level. We finally decided that enough was enough and left it slightly unlevel.

Dec 9, 2012 - Day 147 - St Andrews State Park, Panama Cty Beach, Florida

Today is for the park exploration. The sun is out, the temperature has come up a few degrees so we set off walking. Our first stop was the Gater Lake Nature Trail. This is a fresh water pond in the park, stocked with fish for fishing from non-motorized boats, home to alligators, they say there are about 6 but we did not see any, lots of wading birds and ducks. The trail winds around the lake for about a mile among live oaks with spanish moss and marsh grasses. When we came off the trail we headed to the jetty beach and walked along the...
