Feb 17, 2016 - Ruskin, FL.

We are spending the next four nights in Ruskin Florida. For those of you wondering where Ruskin is... it is about 30 miles south of Tampa. It was the best we could do on short notice for reservations. It was a short 150 mile drive, so we got here at 12.30 and spent the afternoon in their very large laundry facilitie. We do not know who is dirtying all those clothes. We are doing our shopping in Sun City. Yes, Sun City, with McCoulloch Dr. and everything. It is just a few miles up the road. The park is called Hideaway RV Resort. The entrance...

Mar 10, 2015 - Tennesee Williams in Key West and visa applications

We left off last week in Key West with Tom and Bunnie at the movies and me hanging out with Archie and Louise and working on the blog. The camper and smart car were resting at campsite 17 at Alafia River State Park. This week's blog posting comes to you on Tuesday since we are at the Soap Opera Laundry washing all that laurel oak pollen out of our stuff, and tomorrow promises to be a very busy day in St. Pete with Bob and Sue. Back to last week. Wednesday evening continued with the three of us enjoying a really good dinner at salute, a...

Mar 2, 2015 - Leaving Manatee RV Park

Dear Family and Friends, 11 am EST (Patti here) After a very rainy Saturday (we did laundry, went to the grocery store, watched TV,etc.), Sunday dawned ”bright and beautiful.“ Hurray! We were off to 'see the sights' in Ruskin, FL — alas, the Strawberry Festival was not open on Sunday, but we did find the Bed, Bath, and Beyond store, made our purchases, and had lunch at the Sonic drive-in; envision the old A&W drive-in's, complete with roller skating servers - brought back memories. Our big purchase at BB&B was a Bissell stick vacuum...

A week in Port Richey enjoying the sunsets on the Gulf of Mexico and our friends visiting with family in the area and it's time to head South. We head down US-19 and turn East on FL-54 and then onto I-75 South. We're heading for Ruskin, FL and altho none of us have heard of it before, there is a campground, with 3 sites nearby to each other, available. Welcome to Manatee RV Park. Less than 2 hours and 76 miles and here we are. Ruskin is pretty remote. We did manage to run down to Bradenton and Sarasota. There is a power plant here with an...

2015-2016

Jan 29, 2013 - at Ruskin FL; 107/233

130129-Tues-0 miles-Today, we just stayed at Hawaiian Isles and relaxed. Well, that doesn’t count my death defying act. I was going fast on my trike and hit the brakes. The front tire locked up and I went head over heels. Shirley can’t believe that I’m still alive and I can’t believe that I did not break anything. Just a small amount of blood from my many scrapes. Tomorrow we go to coffee at 9:00am, if I can move. There is no internet here and it is driving me crazy, so we are going to Holiday Cove tomorrow so you might get 2 updates close...

Jan 28, 2013 - to Ruskin FL; 17/232

130128-Mon-70750 miles-Today we went 337 miles. We are now at Hawaiian Isle RV resort in Ruskin FL. We put the awning out and took the bike & trike down and went for a ride. The new bike rack works great. It only took about 1 minute to get it uncovered and down. Then I took the trike down. That took about 2 minutes. For those of you who don’t know, we had the bike on the ladder, until it broke. Jamie welded a frame for the new bike rack that sits just behind the trike. I need to take some pictures, tomorrow. We are here until the morning of...

1/31 Sadly, we had to leave our friends and continue down the road. Our last stop for the month was 34 miles south in Ruskin, Florida at E. G. We put 236 miles on the house and 459 miles on the Jeep this month. 2/1 – 2/7 We continued our stay at E.G. Simmons Park which has a beautiful location by Tampa Bay. Nov 22, 2009 - Old Town, FL to Ruskin, FL

Departure time: 11:30am Arrival time: 4:15pm 185 Miles We really like this park and hate to leave. If it did not get so cold here in the winter we would stay for a month or more in January or February. It’s really a nice place but too far from family and Ron’s doctors. Oh well, maybe we’ll be back to this little piece of paradise in the spring. This is the end of extensive traveling until spring. We have returned the U-Haul trailer and will work out our tow problem over the next few months. For now, we’re in warm weather for the winter. Ron...

Oct 17, 2009 - Tampa South RV Resort

After several days sitting at one campground in Key West, it is time for a travel day. We hitched up our trailer and left Key West this morning around 9:30 AM (in the already 84 degree heat) and drove north and west to near Tampa, FL, arriving around 5 PM. We drove through a weather front on our way here. The temperature hit 93 degrees in the Florida Keys/Miami area on our drive here and started dropping as we drove through the front. It had dropped to 69 degrees by the time we got to the Tampa area. We're at the Tampa South RV Resort in...

Jul 13, 2009 - Ruskin, FL

We finally have all the "big stuff" sold! My office furniture sold on Saturday and today we sold the Ford Explorer. Whew! I never expected it to take so long to wind everything down. We're still not completely finished but there's only some boxes and miscellaneous items from the attic left to sort through and a few tasks to wrap up. The goal of achieving a less stressful life is in sight! Ron's health is improving but he still has to be careful not to over exert himself and it doesn't take much activity before he's tired. We're moving slow...
