Apr 13, 2017 - The Search Begins

At last we have made it to our old stomping ground near Ponce Inlet, FL. Our whole trip across the country we have been anxious to get here so we could start planning the next phase in our lives. Our plan is to look at land and houses here, then head north to Lake George and look at land and houses there. By the middle or end of the summer we hope to know where we will have our home and where we will park the motorhome for the off season. In other words, if we buy in Florida we will have the motorhome up north for the summer months; if we...

Feb 24, 2013 - Enjoying the Beach

Time to catch up again, or maybe past time. We have some great times tell you about and some that were not quite so great. Our time at Brickyard has been just fabulous. We have had such a good time meeting the fellow RV’ers who have been coming there for years. They are just great people and so much fun; we have played a lot of golf, enjoyed pot luck dinners and happy hours (some of which start way too early for us), playing cards and sitting around some roaring campfires. The weather has been very good in the afternoons, but some of the...

Sep 4, 2012 - Back in the Saddle

You are going to get a few journal entries in a row, as I am quite behind (in case you hadn’t noticed). I kept thinking I would get to it, thinking I wanted to just do one big entry, but that would not detail our stops on the map. So a few mundane entries to ensure the itinerary on the map, and then I should be up to date again. It is September 4th, and we are heading out in Otto after getting the ALL CLEAR from the doctors at MD Anderson on Buzz’s cancer. He had a biopsy on Monday and they were pretty certain that the chemo & radiation...

Apr 3, 2012 - Back to the Beach

I know it has been a while since I’ve done an update, but things were pretty slow with nothing very exciting to report for a while – then it got pretty hectic. So we were working away at the snack bar and the café, enjoying the beautiful weather, playing some golf and doing some touring around. El Centro is the winter home of the Blue Angels flying team and their first show of the season is right there. We had been enjoying watching them fly overhead at the park, but decided we needed to actually go to the show and we were so glad we did....

Dec 17, 2011 - Catching up

We are finishing up our short sojourn in Ponce Inlet and heading out on the road again. Our visit home was not only brief, it was also marked by some troublesome events along with some great times. We got home the middle of November, unpacked Otto and took him over to the KOA where we store him when we are home. Two days later we drove him over to Sanford, FL to La Mesa RV where we bought him, to have a few repairs done. I don’t think I ever mentioned in the journal that we had some damage to the awning and slide cover thanks to cutting a...

Nov 10, 2011 - Home Sweet Home?

We are home. I don’t know why it seems so much longer since we have been home this year than last, maybe because we have had a few more problems. But we are happy to be here, even though we have had a good time with our travels and our work. The weather is nice (about 75 when we arrived, and sunny) and we are ready to tackle a few of the problems that have arisen since we left. We got here about 3 pm, parked at the county lot up the road, and proceeded to shuttle our clothes, food, and other necessities down to the condo. That actually took...

Apr 17, 2011 - Manatee Boat Ride

Today Steve and Sarah will be meeting us around 2:00pm at the motorhome and we will then head down the coast (A1A) for a 4:00pm (2 hours) Narrated Scenic Cruise along the Intracoastal Waterway abord the Manatee. We never did see any Manatees. Then we found a great BBQ place for dinner in Daytona Beach.

Mar 7, 2011 - Home Again - And Warm!!!

I know it has been a long time since an entry, but there really wasn't too much to write about that was particularly noteworthy. I didn't think you all wanted to hear about my every day trip to the dog park with Suzie and Buzz's trek over the bridge to work every day so I just let this go for a while. Things have changed for us quite drastically (once again!) so I figured I would catch you up and end this segment of the journal before embarking on our new adventures. After Thanksgiving we headed back up to Ottawa and settled in for a ocuple...

Aug 13, 2010 - The Circle is Complete

It seems like we have been gone forever, but it also seems like we just left. Not much has changed, except that our condo really does feel like home now. The beach is as beautiful as ever, and the heat and humidity as stifling. Thank goodness for that ocean breeze. Suzie seemed to know just where to go so she also must think of this as home. Now I need to fill you in on why we are here. Our plans had been to travel around the northeast for a couple of weeks after Lake George, then fly down here for a convention in Orlando and a stay at the...
