Feb 10, 2016 - Panacea, FL.

We had dinner with our friends last night and made plans to spend the day together exploring what they call 'old Florida'. We drove out to Panacea and had lunch at a Marina that has been around for a long time. Great Seafood! From there we went to St. Marks Lighthouse and walked around the cove. We spotted an alligator sunning himself. There were lots of bird watchers out checking the migratory birds in the area. You can see in the pictures how bundled up we were. It was cold and windy. Next stop was at the lodge at Wakulla Springs. The...

May 20, 2012 - Florida's Panhandle/Gulf

On our way to the Florida panhandle we made one last stop in Georgia. We parked at the pricey Stone Mountain Resort. It is a huge theme park with a convention center and camping. We were a bit early in the season for the nightly fireworks or use of the pool but enjoyed a couple of long 10 mile bike rides within the hilly park and some historical buildings and bridges along the way. Since we were in a suburb of Atlanta, a drive to downtown was in order. We found ourselves touring the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library for a couple of hours;...

Tales of Blue Aweigh

Sep 11, 2009 - Brandon, FL to Panacea, FL

Brandon, FL to Panacea, FL Yesterday was a nice day. We had good weather and an uneventful drive. The campground we selected could accommodate the big rig and tow vehicle combination. Very important. It’s a pretty spot, quaint, with a beautiful water view of Ochlocknee Bay. Once the set up was complete, we took a drive down nostalgia lane through our old neighborhood in Shell Point. It’s true, the only constant is change. The “Old Florida” is gone. When we moved there in 1995 the area was a resort with a motel, restaurant, marina, and beach...

Feb 23, 2008 - Panacea, FL

Today we left Wildwood area. After having a heavy downpour this morning we were later leaving than we normally get on the road. Al was not sure if he would get his rig out of the lake that surrounded their trailed, but with 4 x 4, no problem. We headed to Panacea, which is on the Gulf of Mexico on the panhandle of Florida. We will spend 2 nites here as we want to break in easy the travelling mode, as we have been sitting a week at a time for Jan & Feb. Tonight we went to a restaurant that specialize in sea food and we had Gator as an...
