Jan 7, 2016 - 2015-Best Photos- "Landscapes"

It's the beginning of a new year, and that means "Best Photos" time. Having spent so much of our year at the Grand Canyon, this collection is "canyon heavy" to say the least... There are a couple here and there taken in other places, however. Since most visitors to our journal have already seen the Grand Canyon entries... I didn't bother sending an update notice to your inboxes. (These collections are more for lurkers who want to see all the best photos, then leave, lol.) In other news, the website I use for the journal no longer works...

Nov 22, 2015 - Moving Again

Friday, November 13, 2015—Palmdale, Fl. We have a health plan for our dogs with PetSmart/Banfield. We pay monthly and when services are needed, they are provided without charge. That includes their annual shots, and the first year, spaying of the dog. The price is actually less than the spaying alone! The other feature we appreciate is that no matter where we travel, the nearest Banfield can provide care. With their nationwide computer system, they also have immediate access to the dogs’ medical records. Pretty good deal actually. Casey has...

Nov 7, 2015 - Winter Home

Saturday, October 31, 2015—Bainbridge, Ga. Well we have stopped for a few days. The first three days of travel, we stayed only overnight, ignoring our “stay 2 days’ rule.” Debbie has been driving about 100 more miles than I did per “hop.” She is driving 250 miles’ average. This, of course, decreases the number of stops required to get from Kentucky back to Florida. We found this trip that we will not just stop overnight any more, especially day after day. It just tires us out too much. When we stopped last night, I was exhausted, and all I...

Mar 28, 2015 - New Phone & Other Stuff

Thursday, March 19, 2015—Palmdale, Fl. I have my own phone! Since we retired we only have had one telephone between the two of us. Debbie wanted me to have my own phone especially when I am out in the campground. Sometimes I am gone longer than she expects me to be, and wants a phone to call me. Remarkably, she went to put the garbage in the dumpster, which is a ten minute trip, and was gone over an hour! I dare say she is the one that needs to carry a phone. Her absence was certainly innocent in nature. She stopped and was talking to a...

Mar 18, 2015 - Puppy Tails

Sunday, March 08, 2015—Palmdale, Fl. Another morning of watching our dogs play. Running up and down the camper, play biting, growling, even playing tug of war with a toy! One of them will pick out a toy and bring it to the other to play tug! It is such life, such vitality that fills our home. Casey, the puppy has only two speeds. Full speed ahead and sleep. I am thankful. Through my life I have been blessed with many great dogs. Each one was unique and very special. I have had three dogs that were “mine” and devoted to me. The last one,...

Mar 6, 2015 - China & Odds and Ends

Friday, February 27, 2015—Palmdale, FL. Puppy Tails: As I sit here this morning, drinking my coffee, I am watching our dogs have a “run through the camper” play session. Casey stops to pick out a toy and brings it to Peanut to play tug of war with! I smile and feel good, and I guess that is why I have dogs in my life. It is the “feel good” hormones that I am addicted to. Thank goodness I am an optimist, it makes it easier to “be happy.” Two nights ago, Casey decided that she is all done sleeping in the crate at night. She screamed and cried...

Feb 27, 2015 - Odds & Ends

Friday, February 20, 2015—Palmdale, Fl. Puppy Tails: On my last post there were two items I forgot mention. As further confirmation of the type of people that own the park here: With all these puppies being dropped off, the owners have told the managers to start all the puppies with shots, and deworm them at their expense. (Bringing them to animal control in this county will almost insure euthanasia.) The owners then said to take care of them until a good home is found. Of course, we know one little puppy that did. The other puppy that was...

Feb 24, 2015 - Almost time to head back to Texas

Nothing too exciting to share quite yet, but I knew if I left you guys hanging until mid-late March… I’d never hear the end of it, lol. You who know me, understand how much I loathe sending out updates without some "adventure" in them. However, adventure can be hard to find when you're sitting in a cow pasture in south central FL, hiding from old man winter. Here's what we've been up to of late... While our stay in Palmdale has been uneventful, (Unless you count all the karaoke parties and concerts they hold here at Sabal Palm.) there’s...

Feb 19, 2015 - Vet Visit and Growing Up

Thursday, February 12, 2015—Palmdale, Fl. We were interviewed recently and the interview was posted in Nick’s Blog on 02-11- 15. Here it is: While many people think you have to have a huge motorhome or fifth wheel trailer for fulltiming, Joe and Debbie Homich are proof that a big rig, and the accompanying big monthly payments, are not required. They are close to starting their ninth year on the road and are quite happy in their 27 foot travel trailer, towed by a one ton Dodge Ram dually with a Cummins diesel engine. This is the fourth RV...

Feb 12, 2015 - Puppy Tails

Friday, February 06, 2015—Palmdale, FL. Puppy Tails: As this is our dairy, besides our travel blog, I record life happenings here. So our log of Casey growing up will also be here. I will start each section with the words “Puppy Tails” so that if you are bored you can bypass this section of the blog. Now catching up with Casey: This is day three of her life with us. Day one: Casey is sticking close to us humans on the coach. Only a few housebreaking mistakes and I assign fault to us. Most all puppies, and Casey is no exception, always have...

Feb 4, 2015 - News Flash!

Thursday, January 29, 2015—Palmdale, Fl. Even in the middle of what some people would consider a “boring” winter, sometimes we get a little lift. As we were eating lunch today, June said:” Look out the window.” On the middle of the dirt road there was about a five foot alligator. Debbie was just about to call the office when the work campers showed up. They had a long pole and some rope. As we ate our lunch they herded the gator into one of the lakes. The lake was about ¼ of a mile away so it was quite a hike for the gator. He adapted well...

Jan 27, 2015 - Winter Marches On

Tuesday, January 27, 2015—Palmdale, Fl. I just noticed that I have not posted to our blog in 14 days now. So I guess I owe everyone an update. The winter goes on, day after day, with no real change. Arise from bed, watch the news, and have a cup of gourmet coffee. Eat breakfast, explore on the computer, and watch some more TV. Eat Lunch. Take a nap. Eat Supper. Go to bed and read for a couple of hours. I have not watched TV at night since I got my new Nook Glow at Christmas. The new Nook is far superior to the 5 year old version that I...
