Oct 20, 2017 - OOPS!

Oops, I almost forgot to do a final update! Sorry! We arrived home on Sep. 13, a little over a month ago. It's been a busy time and the journal just slipped my mind, of course, these days just about everything slips my mind. It was a very long trip home. The first three days we only stopped overnight and just kept driving. At that time no one had any idea where the storm would actually go. By Friday night it looked like Irma was going to go straight up through Georgia so we decided to go down into Mississippi to wait it out. We arrived in...

Jul 26, 2015 - Cuanto le Gusta

A song from my childhood has been going through my head the last week. The only lines I remembered were “We don’t know where we’re going and we don’t know how we’ll get there but we know we’re going to have a real good time” which describes our plans or our "sorta" plans right now. I found the song on You Tube and its called Cuanto le Gusta and sung by Carmen Miranda and the Andrew Sisters from the movie “A Date with Judy”, it was very popular when I was growing up. Here’s a link: Cuanto le Gusta We originally planned to take a western...

Oct 10, 2014 - Home! There's No Place Like it!

We arrived home last Saturday, the 3rd, and need I say how happy we are to be here? I’m a homebody at heart and could never be a “fulltimer”. We came home to some problems though and have spent most of the past week taking care of them. Our area was inundated with rain this summer causing everything to be either drowned, weed-choked, overgrown, or mildewed! Our deck and the furniture on the screened porch were black with mildew and the house has a musty smell even though we left the AC set on 80, just two degrees higher than our usual...

Feb 8, 2014 - A Sad Farewell

From Ormond Beach FL ... Saturday, February 8, 2014 On February 2, 2014, our dear brother-in-law Walt lost his battle with leukemia. Today we said goodbye to a very special man. And we were so blessed to have him as a member of our family. He was a wonderful husband to Chris, and they were truly soulmates. Both were born in West Virginia and Marshall University grads, but they met in Florida. Walt truly lived an amazing life. I am posting some pictures of the displays from Walt's funeral for those family members who were not able to attend...

Feb 6, 2014 - Time with Chris

From Ormond Beach, FL … February 6, 2014 We stayed with Chris for a few days this week. Walt’s service was on Saturday, and we stayed on until Monday. We were so glad we were down here to be with her during this difficult time. The service was truly a celebration of Walt’s life, and we were so happy to be a part of it. Such a reminder to us to be grateful for each and every day … and we are so blessed for each day we had with Walt.

On the Road Again

Jan 9, 2014 - Jan 9th

This is the last full day here at Tomoka State Park. There was some rain during the night but the Temperature stayed in the high 50s. I had left some of our bait in the bed of the truck overnight. in an open container with water. When I looked this morning most of it, was gone. There were small paw prints on the back of the truck. I guess some small animal had eaten what was in the container. The weather tis morning is very cloudy and it is raining off and on. When we came to the library to update the blog there was a farmers market. We...

Jan 9, 2014 - Jan 8th

The night was a little warmer than it has been with a low of about 37 degrees. I guess it is still better than home. We took a walk in the morning of about 2 miles. There is a bike path across from the entrance to the park that goes through the woods for a ways. We were somewhat at the absence of any animals. We did think we would see something. We decided to go fishing in the evening, so we wanted to get some bait. We set the GPS for a bait store and it took us on somewhat of a wild goose chase. Finally we arrived at the location of the...

Jan 7, 2014 - Jan 7th

Cold night last night, the furnace ran most of the night. However we didn't seem to get any frozen pipes (whew, thank goodness for that). It's quite cold this morning, 30 degrees, we decided to go to Wal-Mart and find a WIFI hotspot to update the blog and maybe a Dollar General to but a glass baking pan so Sally can make the Mexican casserole we like for supper. We will probable walk a little this afternoon or evening and become more active tomorrow as it warms up.

Jan 7, 2014 - Jan 6th

Today we traveled 35 or so miles from Dykes-Faver state park to Tomoka State park in Ormond Beach just North of Daytona Beach. It is getting cold now, we were asked by the park host to disconnect our water and leave the outside faucet dripping all night to prevent freezing. It's expected to get into the mid 20's tonight with a brisk wind of perhaps 20 MPH. We rode around the park in the pickup seeing several good looking places to fish and a memorial statue to Chief Tomoka at the end of the park. The weather forecast is for slowly warming...

Dec 31, 2013 - End of Year Report for 2013

In October we arrived at the Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Good Sam RV Rally, along with almost 3,000 other RVs. It’s always good to meet and talk with other RVers to compare notes on problems and solutions. The rally also conducts numerous seminars on various RV topics, conducts tourist-type tours in the area, has hundreds of vendors selling RV and non-RV “stuff” and has nightly entertainment. The first night we had The Beach Boys. As most know, The Beach Boys are an American rock band, formed in Hawthorne, California in 1961. The...
