Nov 1, 2019 - Last leg of the trip south

Yesterday, I only went out to walk around the campground a little to get some activity. My knee is really bothering me and I have lots of pictures to load onto this website, so I sat most of the day! This morning, I got on the road about 10 AM! I knew if I left much earlier, I would get to Carefree at the hottest part of the day. I got a free lunch at the Flying J in Dade City in Florida because my birthday is coming up! I stopped at the Pilot gas station in Punta Gorda in order to start my generator and run my air conditioner because it...

Jan 10, 2019 - Judd Creek Kayaking

On another cool Thursday, 12 of us ventured out into the sunshine to find warmth. We found it and found some birds also. In one direction, we go into reeds and mangroves. In the other direction, we pass houses and get into wider waterways that eventually lead to the Caloosahatchie River. That would have been windy, so we didn't go that far.

Oct 22, 2018 - Home again, jiggity jig!

My traveling days are over until next Spring! I am afraid to add up the cost of the summer and may just concentrate on all the good things I saw and did while going all the way to Vancouver via Canada and back through I-80 and I-75. I am glad I have this journal to look back on to see all those places and I am glad and grateful that I had the opportunity to visit members of my family this year, some who I didn't see in years! I know I put almost 7200 miles on the car and about 10,000 miles on the motorhome! The car doesn't record miles...

Apr 14, 2018 - back home - professional's pics

Woke at an ungodly hour to be at the airport at 6 AM for our flight home. We flew into Miami where most of us parted ways. Nancy & Twig went on to Colorado, Sandy went to Michigan, Brenda, Connie, Terry, and Kitty went with Pauline in her truck, and Cindy, Karen, Sue, and I went with Mike in his SUV back to Carefree. We got home about 3:30 PM and I immediately unpacked. The circle where Chic & Marilyn live was having a party and I was invited to get supper there! How great was that! I still felt like I was on a boat, though! Not seasick,...

Oct 31, 2017 - Winter home!

After leaving Versailles at around 11 AM on the 27th, I traveled down I-75 doing about 61 mph whenever I could. I ran into construction, of course, but nothing over half an hour. The first night, I stayed in a Flying J parking lot just past downtown Knoxville, TN. The second night, I stayed at a campground in Unadilla, GA which is south of Perry. Then I traveled into Florida and stayed at the Escapees park in Bushnell. I got there in time for their ice cream social and then went to the nearby National Cemetery to find 4 letterboxes. Dinner...

Upon arrival we sat with coffee and chatted. Then we went to the Moose Club on Anna Maria Island. Wow what traffic! We had traffic going and coming. After all was done we again headed down the road, heading for Hernando, where Joyce and Gene live. . We need to drive several miles after leaving the interstate. We travel through a town called Floral City which has trees that make a...

Today Sally walked with me for a while we probably went for 3/4 of a mile or so. I warket. s feeling a little perkier today so I did get out for a little exercise. Sally then finished her regular walking. We then sat in the sun for a while and we both tried to suntan our feet. At least we didn't sunburn them. We then went to chuck and Karen's. After a short talk we headed to the flea Market iIt is a very large flea market and the merchandise is almost new. I bought 10" cable ties and a fishing plug. We then headed back to Karen and Chuck's...

Today Sally walked in the morning I again wasn't peppy enough to exercise. In the early afternoon we went to Pine Island. Jan 5, 2017 - First Kayak of the Year

Babcock Webb Wildlife Management Area is located about 10 miles north of the resort and it is a beautiful place to either ride bicycles or kayak in the lake. There is a section for the rifle range and a primitive campground and a big area for 4-wheeling too. We have to be careful not to go during hunting season, as that is allowed also. Today was a perfect day to kayak here as the temperature was warm but not hot and the breeze was light. There were many more birds here than I ever remember seeing and it was a great place to bring all the...

Oct 26, 2016 - Big Travel Day Part 3

This flight was only about 1.5 hours and we landed about 8:30 PM Eastern time, 3:30 AM our time. Judy Brown picked us up and drove us home after we retrieved out bags. I stayed at Pat & Rita's house next door to Chic & Marilyn's because we thought they'd be there or would get there very shortly. I needed to put the sheets on the bed, so I put my head down around 10 PM. My ankles were very swollen and it seemed I was walking on pins and needles in my calves. I ended up waking up almost every hour all night long with cramps in my calves. I...
