Nov 29, 2018 - A New Kayaking Adventure!
We had a cold front come through yesterday and it was cold and breezy. It was colder this morning (like 45 degrees) but not so breezy. We waited until 10 AM to leave to give the day a chance to warm up some, but I played shuffleboard at 8:30! Marco Island is about 1.5 hours away, so we got on the water on the mouth of the Everglades at about noon! Late for us. It turned out to be a beautiful day for the most part (got cloudy in the afternoon, but warm enough). From Alva, south to Marco Island, and to Florida's southwesternmost point, Chokoloskee... Monday, March 4, 2013 Ever since we started spending our winters down here in 2010, we've been seeing TV ads for a seafood spot called Snook Inn on Marco Island. We've been wanting an excuse to venture south to the Naples area, so we decided to make a little afternoon trip today. Dec 26, 2012 - Sometimes you just go....
We were originally scheduled to leave Key West on December 22, but the weather did not cooperate. And when you are on a boat, the weather RULES! Then we were scheduled to leave December 30, but the winds forecast for that day were to be strong and from the north. Not good. Two days ago, it started looking as though today, Wednesday, would work. After all, it is not a short trip--over 100 miles from Key West to Marco, across Florida Bay with no places to bail out if the weather turns on you or your boat develops a problem.
