Nov 18, 2015 - Off To Lake Panasoffkee

Nancy had her hair appointment up in Lake Panasoffkee and afterwards we stopped at Werda-Hecamiat, the campground we stayed at for a few months last year. Only a few weeks after we left there, there was a big upheaval and many of the people who worked there left. Then we learned later that even the "new managers" were gone, the rates for the boat slips were raised, and the restaurant was shut down. When we arrived there was not a soul to be seen. We could tell much work had been done to improve the grounds, but the restaurant was still...

Nov 6, 2014 - Lake Panosoffkee FL; 22/326

141106-Thu-80330-We are at Lake Panosofkee and the ending mileage is shown. So we went 469 Miles. Not bad since we got to Atlanta at rush hour. Next time we will use better judgment. It was a good trip, but we got hot. We have about 2.5 hours to meet Susan & Jack Hagar for brunch.

Jun 25, 2014 - From the Gulf to the Lake

We drove from Ft. DeSoto to Lake Panasoffkee, a distance of about 118 miles. We traveled very slow, and actually stopped at 2 rest areas to check the inside of Serenity for cabinet doors that may have opened. The road was terrible, with pot holes you could swim in! Even the truckers slowed to 50-55 mph, and that is the first time we have seen that in Florida! Anyway, we made it safely! :-) Here are a few pictures of our new home for the next month or so. Apr 27, 2014 - Lake Panasoffkee

We are planning our next destination, so we decided to drive to Lake Panasoffkee to scout out two RV Parks for a possible future stay. The Lake is very close to Bushnell, where we stayed for a little over 3 months, before starting our assignment here at the park. It was a 100+ mile drive one way, but we had a very nice lunch with our good friends, John and Mary, who recently camp-hosted with us at the park. After we reviewed both parks, we decided to spend at least 2 months in the Lake Panasoffkee area, once we finish our assignment here in...

Jan 30, 2014 - FlexArmor Roof Application

As promised, here are photos of the application process of FlexArmor to our Northern-Lite camper. A "do-it-right-the-first-time" approach is taken, with all accessories and old sealant being removed, and the surface lightly sanded. This is followed by a primer, then the sealant, and a topcoat. I can't imagine doing all this myself with a bucket of liquid rubber and a roller, LOL! (Actually, I can... and it ain't pretty.) At the time of this posting, the price was $150 a linear foot, which included the new vent covers. If the roof only lasts...

Jan 27, 2014 - The Withlacoochee River-Thousand Palms RV Resort

Welcome to the Thousand Palms RV Resort, on the banks of the Withlacoochee River. No… that’s not a ‘70’s song title, nor is it the answer I give when people ask me if I’m married. Withlacoochee is a Seminole name meaning “crooked river”, which I found to be accurate while paddling it yesterday. I was reminded of Caddo Lake a little bit, as I passed moss-draped trees, and the occasional Blue Heron. This time of year, many trees are all leafless except the palms, pines, and the occasional Red Maple, which still show off their fall colors. I...

Jan 20, 2014 - Lake Panasoffkee

Lake Panasoffkee is a lake and a town just 18 miles or so from our park in Bushnell. We could see it on the map, but we were so comfortable staying locally and just resting after camp hosting at Fort DeSoto for 5 long, hot, and humid summer months. One morning we were on our way to Walmart, and decided to make the drive into Panasoffkee. We stopped at Marsh Bend Outlet Park. The park is attached to the lake, and the waterway has private wooded walkways through the marsh, and small docks attached to the walkways. The waterway is actually a...
