I had walked through the cow camp and even found a letterbox or two when I stayed here other years. But on this day, a "cow hunter" from 1876 was here to either sell us a cow or teach us what his life is like. It was a very interesting visit and I learned a few things. Mr. Summerlin was the cow King of Florida and had scrub cows free ranging from the St. Augustine area down to the Fort Myers area. His cows had their ears clipped off the top of them. Oct 23, 2012 - Hello Florida!

I drove down I-75 from Cincinnati to the middle of Florida for about 1000 miles in 2.5 days, stopping at a truck stop and then a rest area to get some sleep. I knew I was in Florida when I saw a flock of wood storks on the side of the road and palmettos and warm weather! The rest area has a "snake walk" so we can see a Florida prairie and learn something about the history of this area. I am including pictures of the narrative so I don't have to repeat it! Feb 9, 2008 - Arrival at River Ranch Resort, FL

Day 2 was mostly driving. We stopped for fuel and lunch, but other than that I didnt get off the couch. We arrived at 5:15 pm, plugged in and the people went to dinner at the restaurant here on the campgrounds. Afterwards, they all ran off to the rodeo which I hear was great....

Oct 19, 2006 - Okeechobee - tio Rene's ranch

We thought we were just going to pass by and say hello but ended up staying a few days. It helped that we were we able to get all the way to his house (long dirt roads and 35 ft vehicles pulling another vehicles don't usually go hand in hand). We parked our monster in his yard and slept in the house instead. My uncle is a wonderfully sweet man and a good cook ("J" said that if we stayed longer we'd gain weight) to boot.
