May 7, 2016 - Going to Atlanta

Got on the road at the crack of 11, a later start then we hoped for but that appears to be how we roll. On our way to see Alison and Dan in Atlanta. No place to stay in Atlanta so we have reservations at the South Atlanta Campground in McDonough. Wondering what we will find as they are the only place with a vacancy. More love bugs all over the front of the coach. They fly around stuck to each other, mating. And that is how they die on the windshield. Sad Southern Georgia, along I75 had an extreme amount of “Adult Stores” What does this say...

Mar 14, 2015 - Ocean Pond

Ocean Pond could be termed a very large pond or a very small lake. I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder. LOL. It is completely surrounded by trees with Spanish moss and bayou. As with every body of water in Florida...it has it's resident alligators. Quite a few I might add. We also saw a water moccasin snake taking a swim through the reeds. The camp sites back right up to the water, so it's a great spot to put in the kayaks. One of my fellow WINS lent me his kayak, and I went on my first voyage. Piece of cake!! We spent six days just...

Dec 28, 2014 - Sunday- Day 2

Dec. 28, 2014 - Day 2 Well again how y'all bin doing today. I didn't sleep too well last night (waking up around 3:30 AM) thinking that the bikes were stolen off the back of the truck during the night but they were not so no more sleep for me & I finally got up at 5:30. Up, shower & down to the breakfast area & a very small quick bite for me (half of a teeny tiny bagel) & only a half cup of coffee; Janet had half a homemade waffle & fruit. It was pouring rain but we got the truck repacked & we left at 7:15; oh the temp. was 55*F when we...

Apr 16, 2014 - 2nd One Night Stay

From Oaks ‘N Pines RV Campground – Lake City, FL Oh boy where do I start……..after finishing the supper dishes and ready to sit down and relax I walk across the edge of the carpet just behind the kitchen sink island and my socks are wet??? Upon a closer look, the hot water outlet fitting under the sink was leaking badly and the wet carpet went all the way to the slide out! Rudy tried to tighten the fitting but that just made it worse……turned off the water to the trailer and he bypassed the hot water so we at least had cold water to flush the...

Home Sweet RV - 2014

Apr 10, 2014 - Oaks-N-Pines

This RV Park is for sale. We stopped and talked with the owner for a while. He gave us income and expense information for the past three years. It looks like it makes about $200K gross and about $130K net. He does all the maintenance himself. The park sits on 22 acres of trees and lovely grass lands. The sites are grass with concrete patios. There is a two story, three bedroom house that sits on the property that the owners/operators live in. He has a LOT of rules that keep this an adult only park and keeps the rif-raff out. Problem.. the...

Dec 4, 2013 - Stephan Foster Cultural Center

Moving further north, we tried to get reservations at Stephan Foster State Park, but it was full due to the annual Christmas light festival. So we scored a spot in the nearby town of Lake City at Oaks 'n Pines RV Park. It's always interesting how various campgrounds operate. The host at this one had to have everything in order - Barb got chewed out for not parking right behind me as he led us to our sight. Later, we were amused when we noticed our neighbors had parked crossway behind their rig. Sure enough, he soon showed up and they also...

1312041-Wed-77540-Today we drove 423 miles. We got a new faucet at Camping World, but after Shirley put it in it still leaks. It may be the pipe. We need a plumber. Hopefully we can get one tomorrow when we get to Woodsmoke. Not the best of days. Now we have no water at all and the carpet is all wet. Oh Well, tomorrow is another day. Hopefully, we will get water

Nov 20, 2013 - SMALL TOWN

We like to walk on the trails in the forest one day and then the next go into small towns and back country road to see things that you just dont see everyday. We did some geocaching in the town of Lake City , Florida, a small town with a wonderful city park in the middle of town and small store around the park to go window shopping. We were looking at the county court house and after some pictures of the court house, we looked at the picture in the camera and saw a fun thing to us. The small name on the court house was spelled out like this...

Apr 28, 2012 - Exploring Plains & Andersonville, GA and moving to Lake City, Florida

4/28/2012 We headed back into Plains today to check out Jimmy Carters home town. They set up a museum dedicated to him in his old school. The town school was shut down when they consolidated the schools with the county system. We have been to several presidential museums in the past, this far surpasses any we have been to. Apparently he also has a presidential museum set up in Atlanta (we won't be going there). Whether or not you liked him as a president, his life story and that of his wife was very interesting to see and read about. It was...
