Apr 28, 2016 - A Long Wait for New Windows

So here we are in Hudson, FL on the gulf coast. When we were at Red Bay, AL at the factory where our motorhome was built, a couple next to us told us about this place that repairs the seals on the windows of motorhomes. We have 2 windows that the gasket has actually come loose and one that is cloudy, so we made an appointment to get them repaired. The facility is quite something. They have water and electric hookups, and you can just stay in your motorhome while they take out your windows, repair them, and put them back in. Of course this...

Mar 16, 2016 - Hudson, FL - Suncoast Designers

3/08/16 thru 3/16/16 - Hudson, FL Most motorhomes, including ours, have double pane windows. It is not unusual that these windows lose their seal and moisture gets in between the panes causing the window to fog. There are three manufacturers in the US that supply the windows to most RVs, from the entry level rigs to the $2,000,000 rigs and they all seem to have the same issue. In fact while we were here there was a $700,000 rig that was just over a year old and it needed all 12 windows repaired. Suncoast Designers, Inc. in Hudson, FL has...

May 21, 2014 - Hudson, Florida

5/21 – 5/26 We drove 106 miles north (US17, US98, SR52) to Hudson, Florida and parked at Suncoast Designers. Three of our windows had developed a haze between the glass panes because of faulty seals. Suncoast Designers removed the windows, took them all apart, cleaned them, resealed them and put them back together again. The project was supposed to take two days, unfortunately, one of the windows leaked during the test and had to be removed for the second time. It was Memorial Day weekend so we spent four extra days there. One of our...

Jan 19, 2014 - Suncoast Windows

We got into the parking lot just in time in the early PM, most outside spots were already taken. As the day and evening progressed, more came in and filled the concrete parking lot adjacent to the plant. We met our tech next morning and the windows came out that day. We then took the tour of the plant to see the process for cleaning and resealing the windows. It was very cold, we had the heater going but the cardboard on the windows kept us warm - however very dark in the RV. By Wednesday the windows were being reinstalled all nice and...

May 7, 2013 - Hudson, Florida

We stayed one night at Chiefland on the way from Destin to Hudson, Florida. Chiefland is rural Florida at its best (or worst, depending on your point of view) We stayed at Barrington Hills RV Resort in Hudson so we could attend Bobby and Heather's wedding in New Port Richey. We had a great time at the wedding, being with Kathy as her son got married, and seeing our mutual friends from Long Island. One bad thing was that Jerry, who was in Steve's and my bridal party, broke his ankle in a couple of places. Needless to say, he was unable to...

Nov 8, 2012 - 2nd Surgery

Well a second surgery is needed. That is too bad, but I am excited. If it goes as well as the first one I will be happy. It is scheduled for Monday, Nov 12. Sally and I have been enjoying our stay while recovering and waiting. We went to Weeki Wachie Springs and watched the mermaids. It was fun. The mermaids do a 30 minute show, and they really work hard. Swimming and doing stunt while under water and never going up for a breath is incredible.

Nov 3, 2012 - Day Five

I thought I would take a few days off from updating my journal. The pain from the disc I had worked on is almost completely gone. It just seems to be some residual pain from the operation. But if it is still from my nerves being damaged, I will be happy. I am feeling some numbness in another part of my leg, and am going to discuss this with the Dr. on Monday, and decide if I need to do a second surgery. Sally and I have been eating at a place called Sweet Tomato's. It is a salad bar about 50ft long, and then there is all kinds of warm food...

Oct 31, 2012 - Day TWO!!!

WOW!!! Woke up this morning, and NO PAIN!!! God is AWESOME!! I have had a busy morning, and was only sore. I did not have to take a pain pill until 11am. I have not felt this good in over 5 years. I went for my second follow up visit with the doctor, and he said I am healing better than expected. We are staying here in Florida for an extra week. We want to be sure to take things slow, and that the operation I had was the only one needed. Sally and I met a couple from Ontario, Canada. They are so funny and nice. They have just arrived for...

Oct 30, 2012 - Post Day One

Today I went back to the surgery center and had my drainage bulb removed. It had about 50cc of blood and drainage in it. I also received an epidural. I have had some intermittent leg pain down the back of my right leg, but it seems to come after I have been sitting for some time. I am suppose to walk 15min, 6 times today. I have done more than that already and have two walks remaining. The doctor thinks it is awesome I am going extra, without hurting myself. Sally and I ate at The Sweet Tomato again today. The salad and soup was good. For...

Oct 28, 2012 - One more day!

Tomorrow is suppose to be the day of my surgery!! I hope it is, and that it goes well. Moxie Dog was standing on the spare tire this morning looking for alligators (see picture). As luck would have it, she did not and lives to try another day. Today is very nice outside. It is 70deg, with a steady wind of 16mph. Tomorrow through Tuesday it is suppose to be a touch warmer and 25% humidity. I love it. I am off to get a good night's sleep, and starve until my surgery is over. I will update tomorrow and let everyone how it went!!!

Oct 27, 2012 - Three Days Away

Moxie and I just got back from a walk looking for alligators. We walked around three ponds, and just over a mile, NOTHING!! Moxie was very disappointed. It was a nice walk though. It is about 70deg, breezy, and mostly cloudy. Remnants of Hurricane Sandy are still here. Last night we had some good gusts of wind that shook the trailer. Today I am just sore and not hurting like I was yesterday. The doctor wants me to walk 30min 2 times a day, which I have been doing a whole lot more. Walking helps loosen my back up, and eases the pain....

Oct 25, 2012 - Waiting!!1

Today was a slow day. We are waiting for the insurance company to "pre-cert" my surgery. They have "pre-pre-certed" it already (what ever that is). I called the surgery center and they said it may be as late as Monday morning before the insurance company pulls through. So as of now, the surgery is still on. Sally and I played bingo for the first time to day. It was nickle bingo, so it took three hours to play. Sally even won a bingo, and everyone was happy because it was her first win. We were the youngest ones there by 20 years. We made...
