Mar 21, 2013 - 3-10-13 Grayton Beach

We took a hike of about 2 miles today, on a flat sandy trail. We fished about an hour in the evening the waves were too high to enjoy the fishing so we quit. We looked at the umbilical cord that connects the RV with the towed truck for lights and with the advise of fellow camper Bruce from Michigan were able to get it apart and found a wire that had become disconnected. We reconnected it and hope that fixes our light and turn signal problem. We won't know until we hook up and leave but we think it will.

Florida, 2013

Mar 21, 2013 - 3-8-13 Grayton Beach Florida

Well we did it. We bought the RV we had been talking about. We drove back to Panama City and moved all of the stuff in the old one to the new one. We got there about 9 in the morning and didn't leave till 5 in the evening. We were given a couple hour class on how to operate it. Then we started the transfer. That was time consuming and laborious. We had been having periodic problems with the lights on the truck when towing. Well, now they won't work at all. We just turned on the trucks running lights and went back to camp without break...

Mar 21, 2013 - 3-7-13 Grayton Beach State Park

Another cool night. It was 38 degrees when we woke up.We walked to the beach in the morning, about a mile from our campsite. The water had a yellow flag for caution today. It's been a while since it has been yellow as it's been red for a long while. It was breezy but we took a 11.4 mile bike ride today. We saw several large groups of organized bike riders, think they were military. They had a police escort. We went fishing in the evening. Terry had one on that he fought for 15 minutes when the hook pulled out.

Florida, 2013

Mar 21, 2013 - 3-9-13 Grayton Beach Florida

Warmer today, high about 64 degrees. We rode the bikes 10 miles today. We knew that we would need to fill up the new RV as we left and headed north so we thought we would see about taking the fuel caps off. It is a diesel and has two fuel caps so when one wouldn't come off we thought we may have a problem. Sally called Tiffin, the manufacture and a fellow camper gave it a stronger twist than I was giving it and it came off. Then Tiffin stated that it has one fuel tank and can be filled from either side. Glad that solved. Hope we solve the...

Nov 6, 2012 - Final Day on the Gulf

From Grayton Beach State Park, Santa Rosa Beach, FL ... Tuesday, November 6, 2012, Election Day We had one last wonderful day on the Emerald Coast, the Florida Panhandle. We pretty much stayed around the state park all day just enjoying this beautiful area. We took another long bike ride in the morning. Throughout the day we took our time organizing some things for travel tomorrow. And I did a load of laundry to get that caught up. Tonight we watched the election returns. Fortunately, we were an hour behind on Central Time Zone, so it...

Nov 4, 2012 - Gorgeous weather

From Grayton Beach State Park in Santa Rosa Beach, FL ... Sunday, November 4, 2012 We have been blessed with the most wonderful weather here. We get up in the morning, and it's already in the mid 60s. Our campsite has plenty of shade if you want to be in the shade all day long. The days have consisted of low humidity, sunshine, and a light breeze with highs in the low 80s. Our kind of perfect weather! We have gotten in lots of bike rides, usually one in the morning to the beach, and then back to the beach in the evening to watch the sun...

Oct 31, 2012 - BOO! from Grayton Beach

From Grayton Beach SP, Santa Rosa Beach, FL ... Wednesday, October 31, 2012 - Happy Halloween! There was a big contrast in the weather today as compared to the past three days. Our temperatures warmed up to the low 70s, and the wind calmed down a lot. It was really nice to be able to spend time outside again. We had planned to have a campfire outside this morning, thinking the weather would be cool. However, by the time we got up and out there, it was already warm in the bright sunshine. Charlie did make a fire, and we sat outside and had...

Oct 30, 2012 - Blessed Birthday

From Grayton Beach State Park, Santa Rosa Beach, FL Tuesday, October 30, 2012 It's hard to believe a year has passed since my big 5-0 birthday last year. But here it is nonetheless. And I'm thankful for another year. Charlie prepared a delicious birthday breakfast for me this morning. After watching all the news coverage of the devestation left by Hurricane Sandy, we are feeling very grateful to be here. And relieved also to learn this morning that our loved ones in the path of the storm are faring quite well. None of them have lost power...

Oct 26, 2012 - Beautiful "summer" weather

From Grayton Beach State Park in Santa Rosa Beach, FL ... Friday, October 26, 2012 We enjoyed another gorgeous day here on the FL panhandle. The temps were even warmer today, and it almost felt like summer. Except without the humidity. With a light breeze and your chair in the shade, it was heaven. Having still not adjusted to being on Central time, and deciding it was better to be up early and to bed early to take advantage of the daylight we have ... I was up by 6:00am again. Yes, you heard it right. Miracles never cease, do they? I...

Oct 25, 2012 - Beach day!

From Grayton Beach State Park, FL ... Thursday, October 25, 2012 We gained an hour when we arrived here yesterday, and I was really tired last night. So on CST I went to bed at 9:00pm. Consequently, this morning I was up by 6:30. Charlie slept an hour longer, but I got some things done to get us settled into our little home. I set out the patio mat outside and watched the sun come up while I sipped my coffee. It was already nice and warm. We rode our bikes to the beach and walked on the beach before breakfast. Then around noon we returned...

Oct 24, 2012 - Travel to Grayton Beach, FL

From the gorgeous Grayton Beach State Park, FL ... Wednesday, October 24, 2012 Our overnight at Walmart went pretty well. Our sleep was pretty restless, but what do you expect. Otherwise, it was quiet, and we were glad to be parked between a couple of tractor trailer trucks. This morning we got ready and walked over to Walmart for some breakfast at McDonald's. Then we were on the road about 9:00am. We had another beautiful day for travel, and didn't run into any problems. We drove about 320 miles before reaching Grayton Beach State Park...

From Grayton Beach State Park on the Florida Gulf Coast … Sunday, November 13, 2011 We are still here in Grayton Beach. For a few more hours anyway. : ) The weather finally warmed up some today although it was very breezy. We went out for breakfast to a local place called The Donut Hole in Santa Rosa Beach. This was our second visit there, and the food was very good. And it was VERY packed with people. We shared a delicious shrimp and crab omelet. We returned to the state park and got busy with our chores. We are leaving tomorrow, so we...
