Jan 4, 2016 - Rainbow RV Resort, Frostproof, FL

We spent most of January in Frostproof, Florida, at Rainbow Rv Resort. This place was delightful yet affordable, with an olympic sized pool, game room, activities, bocce ball courts, saturday night concerts, karaoke, a dog park, and a pretty good house band made up of sixty-and-seventy-something folks who played some pretty mean guitars and banjos, and covered old old old country songs.....you know what I mean......the ones that made you tap your feet and sing along. Duffy and I spent several afternoons at the resort's outdoor bandstand,...

Feb 26, 2013 - Southern Pines RV

We had a good day today. We left Dunedin in good time this morning, but Tampa rush hour traffic really slowed us down, as we traveled east on Interstate 4 to Lakeland. We met Roy at Bigfoot, and had our rig fixed up and back on the road before lunch. Lifestyle had wired it incorrectly at the factory, but Roy fixed that. We drove south and east from Lakeland to Southern Pines at Frostproof. Carriage friends Bob and Faye have bought a park model in Southern Pines, and Glenna and I are camping on a site just down the street from them. We...

Jan 28, 2012 - Company, Getting Ready and A Cook-Out

Frostproof, FL. 53 deg. clear, SW wind @ 4 mph. Forecast = Areas of fog early in the morning...then partly cloudy. Highs in the mid 70s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph. About 9:30 yesterday morning Roland brought his brother, Russ, over to see me. Russ was very interested in my inside amenities and asked Jim and Roland a lot of questions about me and RVs in general. After spending some time inside of me, Jim took Russ and Roland out and gave them the "tour" of all my outside features, including my basement compartments and engine. It seemed...

Jan 26, 2012 - Tests, Hanging Out, and Plans Canceled

Frostproof, FL. 64 deg. overcast, SE wind @ 4 mph. Forecast = Patchy fog early in the morning...then partly cloudy. Highs in the lower 80s. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph becoming south in the afternoon. I was wondering what was going on when Jim woke Linda a 7:30 yesterday morning. She usually doesn't get up that early, so I guessed that they were going someplace or someone was coming here to see them. Well, it was the first guess. About 8:30 they took CLT and headed over to Roland and Louise's. Once there, Linda and Louise took Louise's...

Roland came over yesterday morning and had coffee with Jim. At first, they stayed inside of me and talked because it ended up being foggy outside, but after awhile, the fog lifted and they went out an sat on the patio and talked. After they had talked for awhile, they decided to take a walk and ended up out at the entrance of this park, where Jim took a couple photos. The...

Jan 24, 2012 - DeBary To Frostproof and Roland And Louise's House

Frostproof, FL. 59 Deg. clear, SE breeze @ 4 mph. Forecast - Patchy fog early in the morning...otherwise partly sunny. Highs in the lower 80s. Southeast winds 5 to 10 mph. After getting the rest of the utilities unhooked and the last of the items inside of me stored and secured, Jim fired up my engine and pulled me out of my site. By the time he got CLT (Cute Little Truck), hooked to the back of me, it was almost exactly 10:00 when we started out. Within about 15 minutes we were back on I-4 and heading SW. As usual, I-4 was very busy,...

Jan 9, 2011 - Love our day trips to anywhere

We moved to "The Resort" a couple of days ago. This is an Escapee Park in Wauchula, Fl. There are 127 F/H sites. Most of these sites have park models on them but not all. A hand full of these spaces are available for people like us to rent. There is an overflow area with 6 sites with W/E (20 amp), and 7 boondocking sites. What strikes me the most is how clean this park is. The population is primarily older but still spunky. Reading their calendar of events indicates they really keep themselves busy and active. This is great except all their...

Feb 14, 2009 - Happy Valentine's Day

Well, here we are in Frostproof.... that should warm you up! When we left Lake Louisa State park, we went to a Campers world and had our TV hooked up for the digital changeover. Dave was going to do it himself, but when he took the cover off the top of the receiver and saw all the wires, he decided not to mess with it. Campers World has been advertising that they could hook it up for RV owners, so we called them and made an appointment. The biggest disappointment to us is that we found out we need a box for each of the TVs. We don't use...
