Apr 22, 2014 - Fountain, FL - April

Our trip from Robertsdale to Fountain, FL was uneventful... the kind we like. There was lots of evidence of the recent rains. All of the rivers we crossed on the trip were flooded and out of their banks. Fountain is about 30 miles north of Panama City, and was not flooded. We got to our campground and got into our site about 1:00. Campground is nice and quite large. On Thursday, we drove down to Apalachicola, FL. I've heard about Apalachicola oysters most of my life... Always being said to be the best on the gulf coast... I was looking...

Apr 22, 2012 - Fountain, FL

When we left Hudson, FL we went back to Wildwood for the week of Easter. The RV Park was mostly empty as a lot of the Snowbirds (what Florida calls northerners who come there for the winter) have taken to the road heading for other horizons. Much to our regret the park did not have an Easter dinner and so we were left on our own. I made Chicken Cacciatore for our Easter dinner which is one of Ralph’s favorite dishes. After leaving Wildwood on April 15th, we drove north and west into the Florida panhandle to Pine Lake RV Resort in Fountain,...

Mar 28, 2010 - OTRA - FL - Fountain

3/28/10 Got a really early start today because there were some storms headed our way and I do NOT like driving in the rain. Pulled out of the campground at 9:50 a.m. Because of the weather report, we decided to take I-10 the whole way so if it did rain, we wouldn’t be dealing with back country roads. Such an easy drive; road was smooth, level and straight as an arrow! As we traveled westward, we saw more and more crop land and cattle ranches. Oh, and lots of goats, too. Crossed the Suwanee River (we saw the beginning of it when we were in...

Nov 12, 2008 - Pine Lake RV Park in Fountain, Florida

Tonight we stayed in another Passport America Park for two nights. It is about 25 miles north of Panema City Beach so tomorrow we are going to go exploring. The campground had nice site although maneuvering was a little tight because of trees. It is a nice park to take a walk in.

Our 2008 Travels

Mar 31, 2008 - Pine Lake and Fountain, FL

033108 We packed up again this morning and motored (more like trundled) off to Pine Lake RV Site in Fountain, FL. We are now starting to go west and head towards home in Reno. It was an uneventful drive (Greg likes this) with the biggest sight being hopeful signs advertising clean bathrooms, stuff to eat and blandishments to use credit cards at these little places along the road for those younger ones who are going back home from spring break. However, when we got to Fountain and the Pine Lake RV Park, it was a different story. We are...

Mar 29, 2008 - Louisiana to Florida

We spent one night in Biloxi, Mississippi. We drove around and saw some of the devastation caused by the hurricanes a few years ago. All of the homes and casinos near the beach were distroyed. Not very many have been rebuilt, a lot of vacant lots. Only a few of the casinos have been rebuilt and not on barges this time. They are building beautiful highrise casinos on the beach where their parking garages had been. We had a wonderful seafood buffet at the Isle of Capri Casino that evening. We drove straight through Alabama, only 65 miles, and...

Q's Journey 2008

Feb 27, 2008 - Fountain, Florida

On February 27, we arrived at Fountain, Florida at the Pine Lake RV Park. This park boasts a fishing pond, which is residence to several ducks and one goose. At about 2:30 one afternoon CHris saw a group of four ducks and one goose come waddling up to the spot about two down from ours, stopped there and ate some corn left out by the RVer who lived there, then they turned around matter-of-fact-like and waddled back to the pond. The next afternoon at about the same time, they did it again. Sort of reminded her of the ducks at the Peabody...
