Mar 19, 2015 - Ft Lauderdale - Spring Break & Frisbee Golf

Hello Everyone, Today we traveled North from Miami to Ft Lauderdale! Little did we know that it would be Spring Break and the beach full of college kids! We spent on day at the beach and 2 days on the Frisbee Golf course! And of course, Easterlin Park in Broward County was excellent with very nice sites! Feb 4, 2015 - A Day at Sea

Well, officially we are on our way back to Ft Lauderdale but we have a day of cruising to get there. We spent it at the pool. It was extremely windy but it was relaxing and enjoyable. Good music, a few contests including the sexiest man contest, reading and of course good food and drinks. Following another great dinner and show we set off to pack for the AM departure.

Jan 31, 2015 - Boarding the Ship

Getting ready to leave for Port Everglades to board Royal Caribbean's Liberty of the Sea. Just heard the forecast and am hopeful it is wrong! Winds at sea may mean sea sickness!! Like the fact that we have such a short trip to the port, no airport to contend with. Long, long lines to check in... There must be a better way. And this is not one of the mega ships. Only about 3200 aboard this one. Once we are on board, we begin our tour to find out where everything is. Rooms are nice, bigger than any we have previously had , yet this is a cheap...

Jan 11, 2015 - Repost from 1/11/2015: Sunday Morning

It's Sunday morning, about 75 degrees and overcast. It's quiet and comfortable and the coffee tastes great! Rebecca has been with us for the weekend again. Yesterday, she had her weekly session with the musical theater group, taught by "Miss Dolly," a wonderful, very energetic lady in her early eighties, who conducts classes at the Delray Beach Playhouse. Rebecca is going to audition for admission to Bok, a public school focusing on the performing arts. Students must pass the audition, then are chosen through a lottery to be accepted. Miss...

Jan 5, 2015 - Repost from 1/5/2015: We Are Sauntering

Okay, we've actually been sauntering since Saturday, December 27, and it's taken this long to recover from the ordeal of breaking ties with a physical address. At 1:00 PM that Saturday, we had the house emptied, locked up, and the Molly B. (our rig) loaded up and ready to go. As I closed the door and prepared to drive away, I noticed that the steps did not retract. They had worked just fine earlier that morning, but now they were stuck in the extended position. I checked fuses- all good. So off to Camping World we go to see if they can fix...

Oct 2, 2014 - Cozumel, Mexico

Cozumel appears to be one of the cruise ship destination locations for many companies. Our ship arrived first at 7:00 AM with a Carnival ship arriving about 2 hours later. Our zip lining and snorkeling excursion began at 9:50 AM and just as we were heading off, a Royal Caribbean ship came. It will be a busy day in port today! Our excursion with Adventure Park Zip-Lines & Snorkel Combo was billed as a zip line, snorkeling, and ropes course. It all started off with a cab ride. The course was part of the Club Cozumel Caribe with a series of...

Oct 1, 2014 - Costa Maya, Mexico

After a stop at Fort Lauderdale to start our second cruise, we were off to Costa Mayo, Mexico on the Yucatan peninsula also known for Mayan ruins and in 2005 Hurricane Wilma. The weather has been amazing with sunny and warm muggy days and nights. We get up with the temperature gauge reporting 81 degrees at 6:30 AM and reaching 89+ degrees by midafternoon. But being on a large cruise ship has the advantage of swimming pools, cools drinks, and air conditioned rooms. We discovered this could be an awkward combination when it comes time to take...

Sep 30, 2014 - 9-27-2014 Bahamas

The first part of our cruise was to Princess Cays in the Bahama Islands. The four day cruise left Fort Lauderdale, one day at sea, one day at the Island, and one day at sea returning to Florida. After finally figuring out where to store the trailer then park the truck at a lot, we enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere of the cruise which melted away the tension. Our dinner table guests were two of the nicest couples we’ve met on a cruise by ourselves. After the exploratory ‘ping pong’ questioning to discover who you will be eating your meals...

Sep 23, 2014 - Fort Lauderdale

After packing up camp we headed down I-95 to visit the Kennedy Space Center. With the sky mostly blue and temperature about 85 degrees, we figured we would stay for a couple of hours and head off to Fort Lauderdale. Boy, were we wrong! Parking was $10.00 for cars and $15.00 for RVs. The attendant asked her co-worker if a trailer was an RV. “Yes”, was her reply? “I don’t think it is, so pay $10.00 and park in lot 4” our attendant told us. Who were we to argue! At the ticket gate we discovered we qualified for senior discount so we only had...

Apr 23, 2014 - Ft Lauderdale

We headed to Ft Lauderdale/Miami area because the weather was looking pretty good for the possibility of a cruise. We had sort of been looking at taking a cruise for a while but had never 'locked it in'. When we got close to southern Florida we did a bit of searching around and booked a 7 day cruise to the Bahamas and the total cost was around $990 which included all meals and entertainment. We had to pay for any other trips around the appropriate ports of call which were not all that expensive. Shame the trip was so short.
